Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Side Quest Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Side Quests in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are the six optional questlines that run parallel to Edward Kenway's main campaign — new story content and collection missions that together unlock some of the most powerful gear, iconic rewards, and character send-offs in the game.

All six contribute to 100% completion, and none are permanently missable. Side Quest locations are included on our unique interactive maps for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.

When Side Quests Unlock

Five of the six Side Quests become available immediately after completing "This Old Cove" (Sequence 4, Mission 1), which establishes Great Inagua as Edward's hideout.

Mayan Mysteries is the exception — it requires completing "Overrun and Outnumbered" (Sequence 4, Mission 3) before the Tulum sealed door is revealed by James Kidd.

The two character-specific quests (Blackbeard's Treasure and Captain Stede Bonnet) unlock through later story sequences and cannot be started early.

All Six Side Quests

Former Glories

Unlocks after "This Old Cove." Bernard Woodhouse at Great Inagua manor introduces the quest alongside Art Lover and Damn Fine Gear simultaneously.

Restore all 7 buildings at the Great Inagua hideout and complete all 3 Manor upgrade levels (Level 1: 4,000 Reales; Level 2: 8,000 Reales; Level 3: 20,000 Reales).

Total cost is approximately 55,100 Reales — the single most expensive commitment in the game. Prioritise the Harbourmaster upgrade first to unlock Jackdaw upgrade tiers, and the Level 1 Manor for the Protection Box passive income.

Reward: Edward the Legend (Legendary Outfit, cosmetic only).

Damn Fine Gear

Unlocks after "This Old Cove." A locked gate inside Great Inagua Manor conceals legendary gear.

Opening it requires collecting 4 Templar Keys from the 4 Templar Hunt questlines (Rhona Dinsmore, Anto, Opía Apito, and Rhys) — each Hunt rewards one key on completion.

A fifth automatic key is received from killing Julien Du Casse during "A Single Madman" (Sequence 4) — that key is automatic, but the 4 Hunt keys require actively pursuing each questline.

Once all keys are assembled, return to the gate inside the manor.

Reward: Templar Armor (Legendary Outfit) + Templar Cross Trinket (reduces melee damage taken) + 10,000 Reales + 45 Bones. The Templar Cross is the most practically useful of the four rewards.

Art Lover

Unlocks after "This Old Cove." Bernard Woodhouse asks Edward to rebuild the manor's art collection with 30 Art Pieces gathered from across the Caribbean (world, General Stores, and Kenway's Fleet Brig Piracy missions).

Three return trips unlock milestone rewards: 15 Art Pieces → Le Bourgeoys Blades (Legendary Pistol Sword) + Found Coin Trinket; 25 Art Pieces → Aquila's Sails, Aquila Figurehead, Aquila's Wheel; 30 Art Pieces → Obsidian Hull + Master Assassin Outfit (Ezio's robes, Legendary).

The full 41 Art Pieces also complete the Dilettante trophy's art collection.

Mayan Mysteries

Unlocks after "Overrun and Outnumbered" (Sequence 4, Mission 3). Find all 16 Mayan Stelae across Caribbean islands, return to Tulum, and place all 16 stones in the sealed door.

Reward: Mayan Outfit (Legendary, cosmetic only) and Yax Tun Pendant (Legendary Trinket — all gunshots absorbed, bullet immunity).

The Yax Tun Pendant carries the perk that was attached to the Mayan Armor in the original 2013 game — in Resynced outfits are cosmetic-only, so the bullet-deflection effect was separated into the Trinket.

Blackbeard's Treasure

Unlocks automatically during Sequence 8 "Do Not Go Gently" via a cutscene in which Blackbeard leaves Edward a treasure map tucked inside his hat.

Unlike every other Treasure Map in the game, this map has no coordinates — navigate by landmark description only. Enter the Anotto Bay cave on the left side of the bay, swim to the wooden staircase and diving bell, and dive through the tunnel. Follow the colorful fish and the old minecart.

At the path split: go right toward the treasure, or left first for optional loot. Use a small red barrel placed against the destructible wall behind the waterfall to blast open the treasure chamber.

Two pirates inside will blow themselves up automatically — clear the rest. One chest inside stays locked during the quest; return after completion with a separate key to open it.

Fast travel to Great Inagua after recovering the treasure, and interact with the chest in the manor for the cutscene.

Reward: Blackbeard's Portrait.

Captain Stede Bonnet

Unlocks after Sequence 8, Mission 3: "Marooned." Quest marker appears at Great Inagua manor (827, 442).

Travel to Mystery Island in the Caribbean Sea and interact with the stranded schooner on the beach (906, 123). Follow the crewmates who appear — all objectives are fully marked. A short quest.

Reward: Stede Bonnet's Portrait + Stede Bonnet's Dagger (unique weapon exclusive to this quest). A large chest containing additional gear sits at coordinates 913, 123 on the eastern hill — climb to the top to collect it.
