Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Portrait Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Portraits in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are the 11 hand-painted character portraits of the Caribbean's most memorable figures — a brand new collectible exclusive to the remake that decorates Edward Kenway's Great Inagua Manor and unlocks the "The Memory of My Enemy" trophy alongside Haytham Kenway's Overcoat (Legendary Outfit).

Portrait locations are fully documented on Map Master's AC Black Flag Resynced game maps.

Portraits, Paintings, and Art Pieces: Three Completely Different Categories

Three separate collectible types all hang in Great Inagua Manor and are easy to confuse.

  • Portraits (this guide, 11 total) are character portraits of named individuals collected across the open world and through side quests.
  • Paintings (9 of 12 needed) come exclusively from raiding Warehouses.
  • Art Pieces (41 total) come from the open world, General Stores, and Kenway's Fleet.

All three are required simultaneously for the Dilettante (Silver) trophy — none substitutes for the others.

Critical Difference: Not Revealed by Viewpoints

Viewpoint synchronisation reveals every other collectible type in a region automatically — Chests, Song Sheets, Secrets, and Codex Entries all appear on the map after syncing.

Portraits are the sole exception.

They only appear on the map as a postage stamp icon when Edward physically walks within close proximity to their location. Syncing every Viewpoint on an island will not reveal a single Portrait — always use Map Master's Portrait guide to know where to look before exploring an island.

Complete All Portraits After the Main Story

Most Portraits only appear at their locations after the associated character has been defeated in the Main Quest. Three additional Portraits require specific side quests.

The recommended approach is to complete the main campaign and all three required side quests before beginning a dedicated Portrait sweep.

The three required side quests are: Blackbeard's Treasure, Captain Stede Bonnet, and "A World Without Gold" (which requires completing the first two Officer Quests for both Lucy Baldwin and The Padre before it unlocks).

  • Bartholomew Roberts — Príncipe. Story-gated until Sequence 9, Mission 2: Trust is Earned. Príncipe is accessed via the white P fast travel icon on the Caribbean map at coordinates 939, 415 — not accessible by sailing. The portrait is on the island once that sequence is reached.

  • Stede Bonnet — Great Inagua (827, 442). Requires completing the Captain Stede Bonnet side quest chain. Quest begins at the Great Inagua marker → travel to Mystery Island (906, 123) and interact with the stranded schooner on the beach.

  • Blackbeard — Requires completing the Blackbeard's Treasure side quest chain. Portrait location confirmed post-completion.

  • Robert Maynard — Port Royal, resting against a wall beneath a Viewpoint. Requires completing the "A World Without Gold" questline in full (all 8 missions, which requires Lucy Baldwin and The Padre each recruited via their first two Officer Quests before the chapter unlocks after Sequence 11).

Displaying the Portraits: Eleven Frames in the Manor

After collecting all 11, return to Great Inagua Manor and interact with the empty frames: 3 hang in the fleet planning room and adjacent corridor, 1 above the bed in the bedroom, 1 on the downstairs staircase landing, and 6 line the corridor leading to the treasure room.

Hanging the final portrait triggers a cutscene, unlocking the "The Memory of My Enemy" trophy and rewarding Haytham Kenway's Overcoat. A Treasure Map is also received that leads to The Fortune (Legendary Cutlass) in the Great Inagua Manor ruins.
