Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Painting Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Paintings in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are the 12 canvases that decorate the Great Inagua Manor — 9 from raiding the 9 Warehouses across the Caribbean and 3 additional "Strange Paintings" from a secret merchant.

Only 9 are needed for the Dilettante trophy. All Painting locations are included alongside other collectibles on our Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced maps.

Paintings vs Art Pieces vs Portraits: Three Distinct Categories

Three separate collectible types all hang in Great Inagua Manor but serve different purposes and come from entirely different sources.

  • Paintings (12 total, 9 needed) come from Warehouses.
  • Art Pieces (41 total, all needed) come from the open world, General Stores, and Kenway's Fleet.
  • Portraits (11 total) unlock the "Memory of My Enemy" trophy and come from specific world and story sources.

All three categories are required for the Dilettante (Silver) trophy — none can substitute for the others.

The System: One Painting Per Warehouse, Key Required

Every Warehouse in the Caribbean Sea contains exactly one Painting inside a locked room. To access the room, Edward must first find and loot the Warehouse Key from a specific enemy patrolling the plantation surrounding the Warehouse.

On the first raid, each key has a predetermined carrier — a specific named or patrol enemy at a fixed location. After the first successful raid, the key becomes randomized among the plantation's guards on subsequent visits.

Paintings pop up briefly on the right side of the screen immediately after the Warehouse is looted and appear at the bottom of the Codex menu as the most recently collected item.

Use D-Pad Down on the map to filter for Warehouse icons and track which ones have been cleared.

All 9 Warehouse Paintings

  • Map of the WorldTortuga Warehouse. Key: loot from a banana crate slightly west of the plantation centre.

  • Vanitas Still-lifeKingston North Warehouse. Key: loot from the patrol enemy in the north-east corner of the Warehouse area.

  • An English Ship in Action with Barbary VesselsNew Bone Warehouse. Key: loot from the enemy standing at the Mayan Stelae in the north-west corner of the island.

  • Harbor Scene at SunsetNassau Warehouse. Key: loot from the enemy on the south-west beach. Eavesdrop on two guards near the Warehouse entrance for the hint confirming who carries it.

  • Merry CompanyMatanzas Warehouse. Key: loot from the body behind the crocodile pond in the south-west corner of the plantation.

  • Nymphs By A FountainKingston South Warehouse. Key: loot from the enemy standing directly north of the large barn.

  • Saint Jerome as CardinalHavana Warehouse. Key: loot from the enemy in the north-west corner of the plantation.

  • The Burning of the Royal JamesCat Island Warehouse. Story-automatic: this Painting is looted automatically during the Main Quest "Sugarcane and Its Yields" (Sequence 3, Mission 5). No return trip to Cat Island is needed — if this quest has been completed, the Painting is already in the Codex.

  • The Flight into EgyptBlack Island Warehouse. Key: overhear two NPCs near the Warehouse discussing which soldier holds the key, then follow the updated objective marker to the enemy at a campfire on the path to the south-west beach.

Known bug: completing Lucy Baldwin's 2nd Officer quest "The One with the Gun" — which also takes place on Black Island — can conflict with the Warehouse's enemy spawns and prevent the key from appearing.

If all enemies have been defeated and none had the key, complete Lucy's quest first (available after Sequence 4, Mission 1: "This Old Cove"), then wait approximately 2 real-time hours for the Warehouse area to reset and the enemies to respawn.

Since only 9 of 12 Paintings are needed for Dilettante, this Warehouse can be skipped if the bug cannot be resolved.

Three Strange Paintings: The Secret Store Option

Three additional Paintings — listed under "Art Collection: Strange Paintings" in the Codex rather than the standard "Art Collection: Paintings" section — are available from the secret General Store on the unmarked island at coordinates 550, 638 in the north-west Gibara region of the Caribbean Sea for 2,000 Reales each:

  • Der Liederliche Student — exclusive to this store, not available from any Warehouse.

  • "Vanitas Still-life" by Pieter Cleasz — a different version of the Kingston North Warehouse painting by a different artist; counts as a separate entry in the Codex.

  • "Harbour Scene at Sunset" by Claude Lorrin — a different version of the Nassau Warehouse painting; counts separately.

All three Strange Paintings can be hung in the Great Inagua Manor alongside the nine Warehouse Paintings.

Because only 9 of the total 12 are needed for Dilettante, these three provide flexibility — if any Warehouse Painting proves problematic to obtain, one of the three Strange Paintings can substitute.
