The Pistol Sword Advantage: Free Gunshots

Unlike Cutlasses (wide-sweep Heavy Strike for crowds) and Rapiers (piercing single-target Heavy Strike with faster recovery), the Pistol Sword Heavy Strike fires two built-in gunshots that consume no pistol ammunition.

These shots deal less damage than actual Pistols, but their primary value is in breaking guard — particularly against Brutes, who cannot be parried by standard means.

With Pistol Swords, a Heavy Strike bypasses Brute immunity entirely, opening them to Chain Takedowns regardless of which other weapons or Trinkets are equipped.

Order of Gold (Legendary, Damage: 38, Max Takedowns: 3, Perk: automatically fires a shot each Perfect Dodge) — purchased from any General Store for 29,000 Reales after upgrading the Great Inagua General Store to Level 3. The perk turns every successful dodge into a free counter-shot that interrupts enemy combos and deals bonus damage simultaneously. Combined with the standard two-shot Heavy Strike, the Order of Gold makes every defensive moment an offensive opportunity.

Le Bourgeoys Blades (Legendary, Damage: 38, Max Takedowns: 2, Perk: fire an extra shot with each Heavy Strike) — reward from the Art Lover side quest with Bernard Woodhouse at the 15 Art Pieces milestone. The perk upgrades the standard two-shot Heavy Strike to three shots — landing all three on a single target consistently depletes their health bar, making this the most powerful Pistol Sword for single-target damage. At Max Takedowns 2, it sacrifices Chain Takedown depth for raw offensive burst.
