Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Rapier Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Rapiers are the piercing single-target swords — one of three melee weapon types alongside Cutlasses and Pistol-Swords — defined by a Heavy Strike that pierces one enemy with a faster recovery than the Cutlass's wide sweep.

Nine Rapiers are available, and along with Cutlasses, they count toward the 18 Swords needed for the Dilettante (Silver) trophy.

Rapier vs Cutlass: Choosing the Right Sword

Rapier — Heavy Strike is a fast piercing thrust against a single target. Best for elite enemies, bosses, and situations where accurate single-hit damage matters more than crowd control. Faster recovery means the next action comes sooner after a Heavy Strike.

Cutlass — Heavy Strike is a wide-arching sweep that hits multiple enemies simultaneously. Best for crowds, boarding actions, and chained Chain Takedowns against grouped soldiers.

The "Let Me Explain" Trophy: Max Takedowns 4

"Let Me Explain" (Bronze) — after a Perfect Parry, perform 4 Chain Takedowns in a single sequence. This requires a sword with Maximum Takedowns 4 equipped.

The most accessible Max Takedowns 4 Rapier is the Officer's Rapiers — purchasable from the Great Inagua General Store at Level 2 for 8,500 Reales.

Buy these as soon as the Level 2 Great Inagua store unlocks after Sequence 4. Execute a Perfect Parry in any crowded combat — boarding a ship is the most reliable setting since four enemies are always within range simultaneously.

• Officer's Smallswords (Common) — starting Rapier, automatic from Sequence 1. Edward equips these before acquiring British Cutlasses in Havana.

• Spanish Cup-hilt Rapiers (Common, Damage: 17, Max Takedowns: 2) — free world chest inside Castillo San Salvador de la Punta in northern Havana at coordinates 205, 607. The earliest free Rapier after the starting weapon.

• French Dress Swords (Common, Damage: 20, Max Takedowns: 2) — 1,200 Reales from any General Store in Havana or any Caribbean settlement. Available from Sequence 2.

• French Court Swords (Rare) — Great Inagua General Store Level 2, 6,500 Reales.

• Officer's Rapiers (Rare, Max Takedowns: 4) — Great Inagua General Store Level 2, 8,500 Reales. The key purchase for the "Let Me Explain" trophy and the most combat-efficient Rapier for Chain Takedown builds.

• Captain Drake's Swords (Rare) — world chest on Sacrifice Island at coordinates 15, 550 in the Caribbean Sea.

• Ferraro's Rapiers (Rare) — purchased from the secret General Store on the unmarked island in the north-west of the Gibara region at coordinates 550, 638 for 16,000 Reales.

• Spring-Steel Swords (Legendary) — reward for completing all 30 Assassin Contracts across the Caribbean (also rewards the Hidden Ones Sigil Legendary Trinket upon reaching 16 contracts). The most prestigious Rapier in the game and the longest-grind unlock.

• Blackbeard's Crimson Swords (Legendary, Damage: 25, Max Takedowns: 3) — Deluxe Edition / Crimson Pack Pre-Order Bonus, available from Cape Bonavista. Perk: breaking an enemy's defense also damages all nearby enemies — effectively giving the Rapier's single-target thrust a small area burst on successful guard breaks, bridging the gap between Rapier and Cutlass playstyles.
