Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Harbourmaster Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Harbourmasters in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are the dockside vendors found at every major Caribbean settlement — the only place to purchase Jackdaw upgrades, repair the ship, customise its appearance, and trade looted cargo for Reales.

The system has changed significantly from the 2013 original: ship upgrades can no longer be purchased from the Captain's Cabin at sea.

Every upgrade now requires docking at a friendly port and speaking to the Harbourmaster there. All Harbourmaster locations are visible and ready for tracking on Map Master's free Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced interactive maps.

Four Services at Every Harbourmaster

Jackdaw Upgrades

Purchase improvements to hull armour, broadside cannons, mortar, heavy shot, front cannons, swivel guns, storage capacity, and harpooning equipment. Upgrades cost Reales plus crafting materials (Wood, Metal, Cloth) looted from boarded ships.

Higher upgrade tiers require the Great Inagua Harbourmaster to be at the appropriate level before they appear in the menu — if upgrades appear locked, upgrading Great Inagua's Harbourmaster is the solution.

Ship Appearance

Change all five Jackdaw cosmetic slots: Figurehead, Hull Trim, Sail Set, Ship Wheel, Crew Attire, and Ship Pet. Every Harbourmaster provides the same customisation interface as the Captain's Cabin model ship — no return to the Jackdaw is needed when a new cosmetic is unlocked.

Ship Repairs

Pay a flat 500 Reales to fully restore the Jackdaw's hull regardless of the level of damage. The rate is fixed: a barely-scratched hull and a near-destroyed one both cost the same 500 Reales to repair.

The nearest Harbourmaster is always the fastest repair solution mid-campaign.

Cargo Trading

Sell trade goods looted from merchant ships: Sugar, Rum, Cotton, and Metal. Different settlements offer different prices for each trade good, making targeted selling at the highest-price port more profitable than selling at the nearest dock.

The Great Inagua Harbourmaster: The Most Important Vendor in the Game

Every Harbourmaster in the Caribbean gives access to the same upgrade menu, but the tier of upgrades available is locked to the level of the Great Inagua Harbourmaster — the only one that can be upgraded. Building and improving it at Great Inagua unlocks progressively higher upgrade tiers at every Harbourmaster across the Caribbean simultaneously.

  • Level 1 — Build for 500 Reales (available after "This Old Cove", Sequence 4). Establishes the Harbourmaster at Great Inagua and unlocks the first tier of ship upgrades.
  • Level 2 — Upgrade for 2,500 Reales. Unlocks Rare-tier Jackdaw upgrades including higher cannon tiers, improved hull armour, and expanded storage.
  • Level 3 — Upgrade for 5,000 Reales. Unlocks all available Jackdaw upgrade tiers and the widest selection of cosmetics from the Harbourmaster's Appearance shop.

"Ship This" Trophy: Full Jackdaw Upgrade

"Ship This" (Silver) — fully upgrade the Jackdaw. The complete upgrade costs 315,800 Reales, 4,755 Metal, 2,750 Wood, 550 Cloth, and 12 Ultimate Upgrade Plans. Six Ultimate Plans come from looting chests inside the 7 Underwater Shipwrecks (accessible from Sequence 6, Mission 1: Diving for Medicines).

The remaining six come from solving specific Treasure Maps and digging up their Buried Treasure Chests. The Great Inagua Harbourmaster must be at Level 3 before the final upgrade tier becomes available.

Recommended upgrade priority: Round and Heated Shot first (dramatically increases naval combat effectiveness), then Broadside Cannons, then Armoured Hull. Harpooning upgrades are cheap and useful for Edward's crafting materials — include them alongside the main combat upgrades.

New to Resynced: Shrapnel Barrels are unlocked by capturing Fort Charlotte rather than being purchased from the Harbourmaster shop. This is one of several weapons in Resynced tied to Fort capture rather than Reales.

The Story-Mandatory First Visit

The Salt Key Bank Harbourmaster is the first Edward visits — during "Prizes and Plunder" (Sequence 3, Mission 3), the game directs him here to purchase his first Jackdaw upgrade and introduces the full Harbourmaster interface.

After this first mandatory purchase, the upgrade menu remains permanently accessible at every Harbourmaster across the Caribbean Sea.
