Arare are Japanese rice crackers scattered throughout Silent Hill f's version of Ebisugaoka — a consumable that serves two distinct purposes and appears across all eight areas of the game.
Every location is tracked on the Silent Hill f interactive maps, with spawn conditions noted for the time-gated pickups that only appear after specific story events.
Note: This guide covers base-game Arare only. Locations available in NG+ and NG++ are tracked in the dedicated NG+ guides.
Arare are one of the most versatile low-tier items in the game — useful both in combat survival and as a steady source of the Faith resource needed for shrine interactions and Character Upgrades.
They appear in small boxes, crates, cabinets, baskets, and on tables throughout every area, most collectible on a standard first-pass sweep.
Healing — Arare slightly restores Hinako's health when consumed. On their own, a single pickup restores a modest amount, making them useful for minor injuries rather than emergency recovery. Save Bandages and First Aid Kits for serious damage — Arare handles the small cuts that don't warrant a stronger item.
Faith via Offerings — Arare can be enshrined as Offerings at a Hokora shrine, contributing 10 Faith per Arare. Faith is the resource spent on powerful Omamori charms and Character Upgrades at shrines — making every Arare a low-effort, widely available Faith source throughout the playthrough.
Using multiple Arare consecutively from a single stack increases the total healing effect beyond what the individual uses would suggest. Rather than consuming one piece at a time from separate pickups, using a stack of Arare continuously compounds the healing output.
On Story difficulty, this is a minor consideration, but on harder action settings where healing items thin out, maximising the value of every stack becomes a practical survival skill.
Five Arare in the guide only appear in the world after specific story milestones — they're absent on first pass through an area and materialise only on return visits:
Players completing the game on a single focused pass will miss it entirely if they don't return to this specific Ebisugaoka position late in the campaign. Every spawn condition is noted in the relevant guide entry with the exact trigger event documented.
Single Arare also appear in Treasure Hall (fox statue pedestal drawer), Worship Hall (end of corridor cabinet), and Shrine Path (spawn-triggered).
