Silent Hill f: Hokora Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Hokora Shrines are the backbone of survival in Silent Hill f — small Shinto wayside shrines scattered throughout Ebisugaoka and every area beyond it that serve as save points, inventory management hubs, upgrade stations, and the source of every Omamori charm in the game.

Every named shrine across all eight areas is tracked on the interactive maps, with exact coordinates and area context per entry.

What the Hokora Shrines Do in Silent Hill f

Each Hokora shrine offers up to six functions, unlocked progressively as the story advances:

  • Record — the save function. Manually saves progress at the shrine and creates a checkpoint. The game also maintains approximately three rolling autosaves independently.

  • Enshrine — converts items into Faith, the game's upgrade currency. Dedicated Offering items yield the most Faith — Antique Combs (300 Faith) and Dried Carcasses (200 Faith) are the highest-value options — while consumables like Higashi and Chocolate convert for 80 Faith each. The Enshrine function also manages inventory, allowing unwanted items to be removed at the shrine rather than discarded mid-exploration.

  • Pray — permanently increases Hinako's Health, Stamina, or Sanity using an Ema plate alongside Faith. Also expands Omamori Slots. This is the only way to apply Character Upgrades — shrines are required, not optional, for stat progression.

  • Draw Omamori — spends Faith to receive a random Omamori charm from the shrine's pool. The cost escalates with each draw: the first costs 300 Faith, the second 400 Faith, and so on. Omamori provide passive buffs ranging from health restoration on counters to reduced enemy detection range.

  • Clear Mind — restores Hinako's maximum Sanity (Focus meter) for a Faith cost. This function is only available on Hard and Lost in the Fog difficulty. On Story difficulty, visiting any Hokora automatically restores both HP and maximum Sanity without consuming Faith — making Story mode significantly more shrine-efficient.

  • Change Costume — switches Hinako's active outfit at any point during a playthrough without returning to a menu.

How to Use Hokora Shrines Efficiently

Visit every Hokora on the first pass through any area — they're fixed positions that don't change between playthroughs, and knowing where the nearest shrine sits before a difficult encounter significantly changes resource planning.

On Hard and Lost in the Fog difficulties where the free Story restoration isn't available, planning routes around shrine locations and building a consistent Faith economy through Enshrine is the primary survival strategy.

The highest-Faith offerings — Antique Combs and Dried Carcasses — should be reserved for shrine conversion rather than carried as inventory clutter, since they serve no consumable purpose.
