Every Sudama Merchant in Nioh 3 carries three tabs. Buy uses Gold for standard consumables. Sell offloads unwanted items for Gold. Exchange uses Yokai Teardrops — and that's the one that matters.
The Exchange tab is the only source of Secret Skills Texts and Craft Guide blueprints that don't drop from enemies or appear in world chests. Miss a Sudama, and you miss those items permanently until you return.
All 13 Sudama Merchant locations are included with their complete Exchange catalogues on our Nioh 3 interactive guide hub maps.
The Buy stock is consistent across all 13 Sudamas — consumables, ammunition, and basic amulets available for Gold. Useful mid-run, but never the reason to hunt these merchants down.
The Exchange stock is the point. Each merchant carries two or three exclusive Teardrop-trade items: typically one Secret Skills Text and one or two Craft Guide blueprints.
No two merchants share the same Exchange catalogue. The Hamamatsu Sudama sells Enduring Destruction and two Craft Guides.
Maisaka has Enduring Burst. Futamata Road has Double-Edged Arts. Every Heian and Bakumatsu merchant carries similarly unique stock. Visit all 13 or leave permanent gaps in your Secret Skills and crafting options.
The Sudama on the root between the buildings in the Eternal Rift is different from every other merchant.
Its Exchange catalogue includes five Soul Cores — Daidara Bocchi, Kodama, Sudama, Scampuss, and Chijiko — available nowhere else in the game. Each Exchange transaction at this Sudama also carries a random chance of dropping an additional Soul Core alongside your purchased item, so don't skip transactions even once you have the items you came for.
It also sells Warriors', Samurai's, and Ninja's Memorandums, exclusively available here.
The most reliable Teardrop farming source is Kappas — the small turtle-like Yokai with shiny gold shells on their backs scattered throughout Warring States and Heian.
Kill a Kappa, and it usually drops one or two Teardrops alongside its standard loot. Beyond Kappas, every Hot Spring gives 2 Teardrops on the first visit — 52 total across all 26 springs.
Every Chijiko you shoot, and pet drops one. Every Scampuss chase drops one.
Completing Battle Scroll missions can also reward Teardrops on mission completion. Crucible Wraiths drop them reliably as well.
Run Kappas near a Shrine, combine with nearby Scampuss chases, and your Teardrop reserves accumulate quickly without dedicated farming sessions.
The Mikatagahara Sudama sits on a ledge reachable only via the southern Spirit Vein — itself locked behind the Enko Guardian Spirit from Jakotsu-baba.
Walk through Mikatagahara without activating that Spirit Vein, and the merchant doesn't exist from your perspective.
The Funaokayama Sudama hides on top of a hill behind a crawl space that's easy to miss on the main Heian path. Both are pinned with exact approach routes.
All five are pinned on the Warring States area map.
Both are pinned on the Heian interactive map.
All five are included on the Bakumatsu map guide.
