Nioh 3: Chijiko Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide
In Nioh 3, discovering all Chijiko locations is a great way to conquer the game’s new Exploration Level system. These elusive, floating Yokai resemble traditional handballs and are easily identified by the rhythmic tinkling of bells they emit as they hover in hard-to-reach places.
Finding Chijiko is far more than a simple scavenger hunt; it is a fundamental mechanic for character progression. Each Chijiko you find permanently boosts your Exploration Level, granting you base stat increases and Area Info. Achieving a high Exploration Level in a region is the only way to peel back the "Fog of War" to reveal hidden Enemy Bases, Myths, and Shrines on your compass.
Unlike the helpful Kodama of previous games, Chijiko are a bit more mischievous. They have a peculiar love for being used as target practice. To "collect" them and receive their gifts, you must follow a specific process:
- You cannot interact with a Chijiko simply by walking up to it. You must successfully hit them with a ranged weapon (Bow, Rifle, or Hand Cannon) to bring them down to earth.
- Once they descend, you must approach and Pet them to secure their friendship. This act finalizes the discovery and triggers the Exploration Level increase.
- If you are struggling to find them in dense urban areas or the vertical cliffs, listen for the bell sounds. The audio cues are directional and grow louder as you approach their hidden perch.
