Nioh 3: Shrine Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Some of Nioh 3's Shrines are waiting for you the moment you arrive. Others won't activate until you've cleared every enemy from a nearby base, completed a specific Myth, or passed a key story milestone.

The difference matters — a corrupted Shrine won't let you level up, swap Guardian Spirits, or set a respawn point, no matter how many times you pray at it.

With 156 Named Shrines and Bodhisattva Statues combined across all seven maps, all counting toward the Devotee Silver trophy, MapMaster has pinned every single one, including which need to be earned first. Find the complete maps by visiting the Nioh 3 interactive guide hub.

Every Shrine Is a Fast Travel Point — But Some Must Be Earned First

Most Shrines are visible and immediately usable upon reaching them. A handful are corrupted — physically present but locked behind a condition.

  • The Awawa no Tsuji Shrine (Heian) only activates after clearing the southern Enemy Base.
  • The Anneibo Temple Shrine (Hachijo) requires its nearby Enemy Base to be cleared.
  • The Shijo Abandoned Shrine (Bakumatsu) is inside an Enemy Base and can't be used until all enemies are defeated.
  • The Hamamatsu Castle Town South Shrine won't activate until after completing The Hamamatsu Incident.
  • The Haunting Caves Inner Shrine is only found during the Abundant Evil Myth — it doesn't appear on the map at any other time.

Every access condition is noted alongside each Shrine's pin on our maps

Three Shrines also carry a specific recommendation to activate before the boss area ahead: Mt. Kurama Temple Lodgings, the Kiyomizu Temple Main Hall Stage, and the Final Battle of Edo Shrine at the top of the stairs before the final clearing. Don't run past these.

What You Can Do at a Shrine

Every Shrine and Bodhisattva Statue is a full-service hub for character development:

Praying at a Shrine also respawns all standard enemies in the area. Use it for healing, but know the cost.

The 155/156 Problem: Why One Shrine Might Not Count

The Devotee trophy requires 156 Named Shrines and Bodhisattva Statues combined. Players who have fully explored every area and still show 155/156 are likely missing a Shrine from a Myth or story replay.

The most common fix: replay the Escape from Hitokoto Slope section of the first Main Mission via the Battle Scroll and activate any Shrines along the path. See the Bodhisattva Statue guide for the full explanation.
