Before a hard boss fight, the smartest thing a Nioh 3 player can do is find a Hot Spring. The buff carries into the arena — and unlike praying at a Shrine, soaking in a Hot Spring does not reset the enemies you've already cleared.
With 26 Hot Springs to find across all six maps, every bath counts toward the Spa Lover Silver trophy. All 26 are recorded with exact access routes on the Nioh 3 interactive maps, including the Nurikabe walls and fake walls that guard the hardest-to-reach ones.
When you step into a Hot Spring, your character sits down and soaks for about three seconds. Afterward, you receive two benefits: full HP restoration and a timed combat buff that lasts 10 minutes of real playtime — the timer pauses when the game is paused, or you're in menus.
The combat buff is Warrior's Waters, granting +6% melee damage and stacking with Kodama Blessings, food bonuses, and equipment effects.
That free damage boost can shift difficult encounters — especially if you locate the nearest spring and soak before entering a boss arena.
Nothing is missable — all areas remain explorable after the story, and all missions are replayable through the Battle Scroll at Shrines.
Hot Springs you have already visited appear with a blue water icon on the region map, making it straightforward to see which sub-regions still have unvisited springs.
Every Hot Spring awards 2 Yokai Teardrops on your first visit. That's 52 Yokai Teardrops across all 26 springs, a meaningful contribution to the Craft Guide economy since each guide costs 2 Teardrops at a Sudama Merchant.
Prioritising Hot Springs early in each region accelerates your access to crafting blueprints.
Most Hot Springs require clearing a pocket of nearby Yokai before you can use them. Beyond that, they're hidden in three common ways.
Several sit behind Nurikabe walls — the Iinoya spring (Ryotan Temple Nurikabe), the Hachijo spring, and the Kyoto Imperial Palace spring all require destroying a Nurikabe to enter.
One is hidden behind a fake wall — the Futamata spring is concealed in Futamata Castle's upper courtyard.
Several more are in caves and tunnels only reachable by specific routes marked on our maps, including the Haunting Caves spring in Maisaka and the stalactite-cave Sagano spring accessible from a side tunnel past a flooded cave.
Hot Spring #26 is found exclusively during Main Mission: A Sinister End — replayable via the Battle Scroll menu and the easiest Hot Spring to overlook.
At the 6th Shrine, 'Edo Castle: Keep Watchtower', just before the Death Veil fight, cut through the privacy screens to the right of the shrine, then use the Spirit Veins to reach the lower area beneath the shrine where the Hot Spring is hidden.
If you're missing one spring and have completed every other area, this is almost certainly the one.
All 26 Hot Springs are fully documented on the Warring States area map, Heian interactive map, Antiquity map guide, Bakumatsu area map, and Final Battle of Edo interactive map, with access routes and Nurikabe/fake wall flags.
