Nioh 3: Nurikabe Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Nioh 3, few things are more satisfying than discovering a secret path hidden behind a living wall. Nurikabe, the iconic sentient barriers of the series, return to guard the most secluded chambers across the Warring States, Heian, and Bakumatsu eras. Identifying these stone-faced Yokai—marked by their sudden, glowing eyes—is the only way to reach high-tier shortcuts, hidden Hot Springs, and rare Valuable Chests that would otherwise remain out of reach.

Mastering the art of peaceably (or forcibly) removing these guardians is a mandatory step for any player aiming for 100% regional completion and the prestigious Spa Lover Trophy.

Interacting with a Nurikabe is a high-stakes game of social intuition. To clear the path without entering a dangerous combat encounter, you must correctly identify its preferred Gesture category:

  • You are allowed two attempts to match the Nurikabe's hidden mood. If you perform a gesture from the correct color category (Blue, Yellow, or Red), the wall will bow and vanish, often leaving behind a Soul Core or rare crafting materials.
  • If you fail two guesses or attack the wall directly, the Nurikabe becomes a formidable mini-boss. These Yokai possess high physical defense and devastating slam attacks, making combat a risky alternative to diplomacy.
  • Many Nurikabe can be circumvented by exploring parallel Spirit Vein paths. Coming up behind a Nurikabe allows you to simply pull the talisman from its back, instantly dissipating the wall without a struggle.

These walls are more than just obstacles; they are the gateways to your character's ultimate potential:

  • Approximately 40% of the game’s Hot Springs are hidden behind a Nurikabe. Finding them is the fastest way to boost your Exploration Level and secure the health-regen buffs needed for boss fights.
  • Interacting with Nurikabe counts toward your regional discovery milestones. Reaching Level 4 Exploration through these finds reveals the location of Chijiko, Kodama, and the full map layout on your compass.
  • Nurikabe Soul Cores provide some of the best defensive passives in Nioh 3, making them essential for heavy-armor builds looking to maximize damage reduction.

To prevent you from walking past a hidden treasure room, the Map Master team has pinned every Nurikabe location on our Nioh 3 Maps. Use the links in the table below to find every hidden path and claim the loot that lies within.
