Wuchang: Fallen Feathers: Bo Blood Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Bo Blood is the rarest and most mechanically significant resource in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers — the only material capable of upgrading the Maddening Incense nodes within the Impetus Repository skill tree.

There are 8 sources in total across the entire game: 6 fixed Inner Demon encounters required for the Quelling Madness trophy, plus 2 additional Boss encounters that provide the final Bo Blood needed to fully max out the skill tree. Every location is marked on the interactive Wuchang: Fallen Feathers maps — 50 hand-drawn originals built by MapMaster's team.

What Bo Blood Is Used For

Bo Blood is spent at any Shrine to unlock two Madness-related passive nodes in the Impetus Repository:

  • Rising Madness — increases the rate of beneficial buffs gained while in a high Madness state
  • Prolonged Madness — extends the duration of the empowered Skyborn Might state for longer damage windows

These nodes require all 8 Bo Blood to fully unlock. The 6 standard Inner Demon encounters provide enough to unlock both mid-tier; the Nightmare Demon and Demon of Obsession bosses provide the final two vessels needed for a complete upgrade.

Bo Blood vs the Other Blood Types

Bo Blood is distinct from Blood of Changhong and Blood of Wangdi, which are common world consumables with 30+ and 12 entries, respectively.

Bo Blood has exactly 8 sources, is not purchasable from any merchant, does not respawn, and is tied directly to a trophy. Treat each encounter as a finite opportunity.

Two Types of Inner Demon — Only One Counts

Understanding which Inner Demons matter is critical:

  • Manifested Inner Demons — fixed encounters that spawn at specific permanent locations when Wuchang enters their proximity. The screen flashes red with "Demon Manifested" as a warning. These do drop Bo Blood and count toward Quelling Madness.

  • Death Inner Demons — the phantom that appears at the location where Wuchang died at maximum Madness, claiming her Red Mercury. These do not drop Bo Blood and do not count toward the trophy. Defeating them only recovers the lost resources.

How Inner Demons Fight

Fixed Inner Demons are among the most dangerous enemies in the game because they mimic Wuchang's own moveset — using the same combo chains, dodge patterns, and weapon techniques the player has been using throughout the run.

They can also use the Manna Vase to heal themselves mid-fight. Entering combat without full health and supplies is the fastest way to lose the encounter.

One useful tactic: at the Doomwillow Beach location, the Inner Demon will attack the two living tree enemies in the area if they land a hit on it first — use the trees to occupy it while dealing damage from behind.

Each Inner Demon Also Drops a Stone Needle

Beyond Bo Blood, every fixed Inner Demon drops a Stone Needle — a Tempering Needle used at Shrines to add elemental or status properties to weapons.

Defeating all six standard Inner Demons provides a full set of Needles covering Agility, Strength, Feathering, Magic, Status, and more — making these encounters doubly valuable for build variety.

All 8 Bo Blood Sources in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Six Standard Inner Demons (Quelling Madness Trophy)

  • Annalum — behind the manor, down the path to the gazebo. The first Inner Demon. Drops Shadow Stone Needle – Agility. Accessible in Worship's Rise — missable after Altar Gate.
  • Doomwillow Beach — take the elevator from Lu Mansion Shrine down to the lower area. Two living trees mark the spawn point. Drops Shadow Stone Needle – Strength.
  • Cloudspire Outskirts — past the red pyre, down the hill full of infected enemies, near the remains of a burning building. Drops Shadow Stone Needle – Magic.
  • Snowfall Palace — step onto the main elevator plate, then immediately step off. This triggers a hidden second elevator, revealing a secret treasure room below. The Inner Demon spawns when the small chest is approached. Also contains the Boreal Abyss sword. Drops Shadow Stone Needle – Feathering.
  • Refugee Camp — follow the path to the right from the shrine down to the swampy water area outside the temple wall. The demon spawns at the end next to a small chest. Drops Status Stone Needle.
  • Avian Marsh — from the shrine, go past the large clam to the left, up the slope past the Summoner enemy, and approach the blue-grey Withered Branch. Grabbing the item on it causes the branch to collapse into the Inner Demon's arena below. Requires White-Robed Elder NPC questline progression — the most commonly missed Inner Demon. Drops Root Stone Needle – Status.

Two Additional Boss Sources (Not Required for Trophy, Needed for Full Upgrade)

  • Ruined Worship's RiseNightmare Demon boss spawns in the same arena as the original Lu Hongliu fight. Accessed in Chapter 4. Drops Bo Blood and a Needle. Not required for Quelling Madness.
  • Shrine DwellingDemon of Obsession boss. Requires selecting "The Wheel Turns Anew" at the Riddle Gate next to the Depths of the Capital shrine, AND having completed the White-Robed Elder questline without giving the chisel to Xuanyangzi.
