Cronos: The New Dawn: File Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

While they are not counted as primary collectibles for trophies (unlike Travelogs or Comic Books), Files are the most comprehensive source of lore in Cronos: The New Dawn. If you want to piece together the events of "The Change" or understand the motivations of the Collective, tracking down every note and memo is essential.

Files appear in fixed locations across both the past and future timelines. Once collected, they are permanently stored in your in-game menu.

All collected Files are organized into specific tabs within the Database section of your menu. To achieve a "Complete Database," you must find items across several categories:

  • Medical Reports: Frequently found in the Hospital and Pharmacy, detailing the early biological effects of the plague.
  • Incident Logs: Primarily located in the Steelworks and Police Station, documenting the collapse of order during the initial outbreak.
  • Personal Notes: Intimate letters and diaries hidden in apartments and the Abbey that humanize the tragedy of 1980s Poland.
  • Collective Directives: Rare files found near Traveler Outposts that reveal the mysterious goals of your handlers.

Files are thin and often found on desks or floors, making them easier to overlook than the glowing Essences or bulky Comic Books. Unlike ammo, which is often in crates, Files are almost always found on tables, clipboards, or stuck to walls.

Every File has a single, permanent spawn point. If you miss one in a story-locked area (like certain parts of the Hospital), you may need to find it in a New Game+ run.

While there is no "File Collector" trophy, these items are tracked in your final game stats. If you are aiming for a perfect 100% save file, you must find all of them.

Because there are dozens of these documents scattered across the timeline, missing just one can leave a gap in your Database. To complete your lore collection, we highly recommend using our Cronos: The New Dawn interactive map guides to find all files listed below.
