There are 6 Spears in Crimson Desert — world-found two-handed weapons distributed across Hernand, Delesyia, and the Crimson Desert region.

Is the Spear the Best Weapon in Crimson Desert?

Multiple players rank it as the strongest early-game weapon type. Its combination of speed, reach, and crowd control puts it in a category of its own for players still learning Pywel's relentless combat rhythm.

It delivers strong damage at a distance that keeps you out of the melee scrum, and one specific skill pushes it close to broken in the early game.

The spear is a two-handed weapon that can equip up to five Abyss Gears, giving it strong endgame customisation potential on top of an already impressive base kit.

Pair it with a one-handed weapon in the quick-swap system for situations where you need faster melee or a shield.

The recommended pairing for new players is Spear as primary with a Hammer or Axe for combo switches — use the Spear's speed and stunlock to control groups, then switch to the heavy weapon for burst damage.

Key Spear Skills: What Makes It Work

Evasive Slash Counter Stance (Armed Combat level 3)

It is the skill that defines the weapon. With other weapon types, Evasive Slash is a simple retreating poke.

With the Spear, it becomes an overpowered Counter Stance — activate it just before an enemy strike, and Kliff enters a defensive posture that punishes the attacker with a counter thrust.

It's significantly safer than a standard parry, has a more forgiving timing window, and works on most enemy attack types, including bosses.

Turning Slash (R1+R2 / RB+RT)

It is the primary crowd control tool. Once levelled up, it chains almost instantly off any preceding skill, dealing solid damage and — more importantly — pushing groups of enemies back.

When you're surrounded, Turning Slash buys the space to reset.

Triple Thrust Into Six-Thrust Assault

The Spear's basic R1 is a quick triple thrust that pressures shield-bearing enemies. Chain into Stab (R1+Triangle / RB+Y) with correct timing to unleash a rapid-fire six-thrust assault.

This is the most reliable approach against Hernandian Knights and other shielded human enemies.

Best Spear to Find First

The Soul Spear is the strongest early pick from the checklist — 27 base Attack and a spectral projectile effect that clears groups faster than any other spear available at the same point in the game.

It's in the room on the south side of the Tomb of Frozen Souls in Hernand, on the penultimate level going down. You can reach it soon after the glide ability becomes available at the end of Act 1.

The Warspike Spear and Sydmon Spear are both in Hernand and accessible early — the Sydmon is conveniently placed next to the Sealed Abyss Artifact that triggers the Sharpened Spear I Challenge, making both pickups a single detour.

The Bamboo Spear is on a weapon rack in the upper area of the Sanctum of Absolution Ruins in Hernand.

The Bismuth Spear is in the Well of Enlightenment ruins in the Crimson Desert region, and the Disruptor Spear is on a weapon rack in a Delesyia military camp.

Each Spear Challenge is locked behind a Sealed Abyss Artifact in the open world — collect the artifact first, then complete the combat objective.
