Code Vein 2: NPC Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Code Vein 2 fills its world with NPCs ranging from story-critical Partners who fight alongside you and unlock over time, to one-off witnesses who add texture to the world's collapse.

The guide below tracks every confirmed NPC position across all maps — including timeline-specific appearances, story trigger requirements, and the favourite gifts that unlock each Partner's Trade Shop.

All locations are on MapMaster's Code Vein 2 interactive maps.

Two Types of NPCs in Code Vein 2

Partner NPCs are the game's main companions — Lou, Lavinia Voda, Valentin Voda, Noah, Iris, Jadwiga, Josée, Lyle, and Holly (the latter three joining after their respective Timeline Shift Decisions).

Partners can be summoned as active AI combatants or set to "assimilated" mode — bonded to the player, influencing combat from a distance without being physically present.

Each Partner has their own Request questline, affinity system, and Trade Shop. All Partner NPCs are centred at MagMell Hub in the Present timeline, with additional appearances tied to story quests across The Continent.

Story and world NPCs serve specific narrative functions: the Motorcycle Mechanic and Bridge Builder progress the Mastering Control of Time quest; the Ferryman transports you between MagMell Island and the mainland until the bridge is repaired; the Ferrywoman carries you to Insula Carcere during the Slaying the Hero Zenon quest; and characters like Lycoris, the Elderly Revenant, and the Village Woman offer lore context about the Heroes.

Jadwiga's Minions are also classified as NPCs in this guide, each at a fixed position with a unique inventory.

Partners: Affinity, Gifts, and Trade Shops

Every Partner has a hidden affinity stat that expands their Trade Shop as it rises — unlocking consumables, recipes, crafting materials, and eventually their personal weapons and Formae.

Affinity builds through three methods: completing their Requests (the highest source per action), exploring and fighting with them as your active Partner, and giving them gifts.

Gifts alone have a cap — affinity stops rising from gifting alone around 200 Trading Points — so Requests and active exploration are essential for maximum affinity.

Reaching maximum affinity with any Partner unlocks the Irreplaceable trophy.

Two Partners — Jadwiga and Lavinia — have no weapons in their Trade Shops, making them lower priority for weapon-focused affinity grinding. Lavinia's primary reward track is Boosters, given when you max out a Blood Code's proficiency.

How the Gift and Trading Point System Works in Code Vein 2

Give Valuables to Partners at MagMell Hub to earn Trading Points. Each NPC has four preference tiers (love, like, neutral, dislike) — loved items yield the most points, disliked items grant none and are discarded.

Food items can be gifted repeatedly, but only earn two-thirds of their standard Trading Point value on repeat giving. Confirmed favourite gifts per Partner:

• Noah — Cookbook, Kitchen Knife, Soufflé
• Lavinia — Wine, Perfume
• Lou — Black Tea, History Book, First Love Juice
• Jadwiga — Beer, Figurines, Noodles
• Iris — Fashion Magazine, Soap, Military Rations

A practical farming tip: Eggs can be purchased endlessly from Jadwiga's Minion near the Refugee Village Mistle. Cooking them into Boiled Eggs and gifting repeatedly is the fastest food-based affinity loop.

Timeline-Specific NPCs: Where to Find Them in Code Vein 2

Several NPCs only exist under specific timeline conditions.

• Josée appears in MagMell Hub only in the 2187: Free Exploration Era.
• Iris and the second Lou position at MagMell Hub require the Present timeline and progress past the Vanquishing the Heroes quest.
• Noah only joins MagMell Hub if you saved him during Timeline Shift Decision: Noah. Lycoris appears on The Continent after defeating the Gorge Cave boss in the Present timeline — the same moment that transports the player to 2277.
• The Ferryman departs permanently once you repair the bridge between MagMell Island and the mainland. Every era condition is noted alongside each NPC's checklist entry.
• Craig appears at Hot Springs during specific Requests — MagMell, City Overlook, and Valley Overlook — as well as at Forward Base Two and Pioneer Castle during story progression.
