Clair Obscur Expedition 33: Rest Point Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Expedition Flags are the backbone of navigation in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 — and the physical lore of the world. Past expeditions planted these flags at their campsites, numbered by expedition (Expedition 48, Expedition 63, Expedition 81, and more), leaving them for the parties that came after.

Expedition 33 inherits them all. Every flag is a Rest Point, a fast travel node, and an upgrade station simultaneously.

All 40+ confirmed Rest Points before Load more are tracked on MapMaster's Expedition 33 interactive maps, including every flag in the 30 exclusive area maps.

What Expedition Flags Do in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Interacting with any Expedition Flag opens a menu with the following options:

  • Rest — fully restores all Tints and Chroma Elixirs to their current maximum capacity. Critically, resting also respawns all normal enemies in the current area. This makes flags useful for EXP and item farming as well as recovery, but means that resting before a boss isn't consequence-free if you need to backtrack through the area.

  • Upgrade Attributes — spend any accumulated Attribute Points across the full party. Each character's attribute pool (Vitality, Might, Agility, Luck, Defense) can be adjusted here. Use Recoats at this same menu to reset a character's allocation entirely.

  • Learn Skills — access each character's Skill Tree to unlock new combat abilities using accumulated Skill Points.

  • Fast Travel — teleport instantly to any previously activated flag within the same-named area.

  • Upgrade Weapons — spend Chroma Catalysts to raise weapon levels. Unlocks in Act III only; unavailable before then, even if Catalysts are in the inventory.

  • Upgrade Expedition Resources — expand Lumina Points (using Colour of Lumina) or increase Tint and Chroma Elixir capacity.

Fast Travel: Within Areas Only

Fast travel works exclusively between flags within the same named area. If you're in Flying Waters, you can travel between any Flying Waters flags you've activated — but not to a flag in Stone Wave Cliffs or Ancient Sanctuary.

The fast travel option only appears once you've activated at least two flags in the same area. No Expedition Flags exist on The Continent overworld, so no fast travel is available while traversing between areas.

Because of this restriction, activating every flag in an area as you explore — even when you don't need to rest — pays off immediately: each activated flag expands the fast travel network for that area, reducing backtracking to zero once all flags are found.

Go Back to The Continent: One Key Requirement

Expedition Flags also feature a "Go Back to The Continent" option that teleports the party to the area's entrance on the overworld.

This option is locked until Esquie's Relationship Level reaches Level 4. Before Level 4, exiting a side area requires walking to the entrance manually.

After Level 4, any flag becomes an instant exit — making backtracking through completed areas unnecessary.

Act III Unlocks at Expedition Flags

The full Expedition Flag menu only becomes available in Act III. The "Upgrade Weapons" and "Upgrade Expedition Resources" options are grayed out in Acts I and II — any Chroma Catalysts or Colour of Lumina collected before Act III carry forward and become available the moment the options unlock.

This is by design: the upgrade systems open after The Curator joins the camp following Flying Waters, and the full flag menu expands again at the start of Act III.
