Clair Obscur Expedition 33: Outfit Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Outfits are Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's cosmetic wardrobe system — purely visual changes with no gameplay effect, no associated trophy, and no stat implications. Every party member (Gustave, Maelle, Lune, Sciel, Verso, and Monoco) has multiple styles spanning Mime drops, merchant purchases, skill challenges, story quests, and DLC.

Outfits and Haircuts can be swapped freely from the Character Menu at any time; Tints require the Expedition Camp vanity mirror. Esquie's appearance changes based on which Pictos are equipped to him — elemental Pictos visibly alter his shell's glow.

All confirmed Outfit positions are on MapMaster's Expedition 33 interactive maps.

What Outfits Are in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

The full catalogue spans nine named sets and several standalone pieces. The Baguette set comes from Mime bosses:

The Sakapatate set mixes merchant purchases, NPC quests, and the Ono-Puncho challenge.

The Pure set requires answering the Grandis Fashionist's poem lines correctly in Monoco's Station.

The Swimsuit set spans Southern Gestral Beach parkour, Gestral Beach volleyball, and a Gestral Beach race.

The Chic set (introduced in the Thank You update) is purchased from a single Gestral Merchant north of the Coastal Cave entrance.

Five Acquisition Routes: Mimes, Merchants, Challenges, Story, and DLC

  • Mime drops — each Mime fight rewards a character-specific outfit (and matching Haircut) for the party member that lands the killing blow. Mimes don't respawn.

  • Skill challenges — Swimsuit outfits come from timed races, parkour courses, and volleyball matches. The Ono-Puncho challenge unlocks Maelle's Sakapatate.

  • Story and NPC quests — Gustave's Crimson Uniform, Lune's Sakapatate (Alexsoundro quest), Verso's and Maelle's Civilian (The Manor), Maelle's Gestral White Haircut (Golgra defeat), Monoco's Lumière (insist with Monoco at the Flying Casino Gestral), and Maelle's Real Maelle (automatic at Act 3 start).

  • DLC — the Deluxe Edition includes the Flowers Collection (all 6 characters), Clair (Maelle), and Obscur (Gustave). Verso's Drafts DLC adds 9 new cosmetic sets with their own unlock methods.

Act 1 Time-Sensitive Outfits: Three Purchases to Prioritise

Three Outfits are flagged "recommended to buy before completing Act 1" and may no longer be available from their vendors afterward:

  • Sakapatate (Gustave) — from Delsitra in Gestral Village.
  • Lumière Suit (Gustave and Maelle) — from Carrabi on The Continent east of Gestral Village.
  • Pure (Gustave) — from the Karatom/Blue Mushroom quest. Find the Blue Mushroom in Esquie's Nest, bring it to Karatom in Gestral Village, and defeat his Ultra-Ultimate Sakapatate.

The Ono-Puncho Challenge: Sakapatate Maelle Step-by-Step

The Sakapatate Outfit for Maelle requires dealing 9,999 damage in a single hit to the Ono-Puncho NPC in the arena area of Gestral Village.

This is the most mechanically demanding cosmetic unlock in the game. The confirmed method from the checklist:

  • Remove every other party member — Maelle solo only.
  • Equip the Medalum weapon and the Roulette and Marking Shots Pictos.
  • When the fight starts, use Free Aim to shoot Ono-Puncho three times to apply the mark.
  • Have the Percee Skill unlocked and equipped.
  • Use Percee immediately before the Roulette bonus expires.

If you fail to land all three Free Aim marks before Roulette resets, restart and try again.

The Clea Outfit: One Choice, Resettable via the Faceless Boy

After defeating Clea in Flying Manor (Act 3, Esquie fly required), speak to the Young Boy and choose which character receives the Clea Outfit — Sciel, Lune, or Maelle.

The choice appears permanent, but isn't: talk to the Faceless Boy inside any cleared Flying Manor boss area, and he returns you to the central point, resetting the dialogue.

This means you can assign the Clea Outfit to each of the three characters in sequence by repeating this process.

The Crimson Uniform: The Rarest Time-Sensitive Outfit

Gustave's Crimson Uniform is the most time-critical cosmetic in the game.

In Lumière - Act 1, speak to Richard (Sophie's sewing teacher) by the statue, collect the uniform from him, then find Jules on the ramp leading to the pier and hand the uniform over — all before agreeing to hear Emma's speech, which triggers the Gommage and ends the prologue.

Miss this narrow window, and the Crimson Uniform isn't available again in the current playthrough.

The Grandis Fashionist Poem: Pure Set for Lune, Sciel, and Maelle

The Pure set for Lune, Sciel, and Maelle requires correctly answering the Grandis Fashionist's poem lines in Monoco's Station.

The correct responses in order: "While shadows fade to silence, gone beyond our sight", "Death untangles threads, revealing what's begun", "Eternity then cradles us, a promise to appease."

Wrong answers fail the exchange, so record the lines before approaching the Grandis.
