Atomfall: Recipe Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Atomfall Recipes are the tracked crafting blueprints scattered across the Windscale Quarantine Zone — covering 14 unique types from the Bandage unlocked at game start to the Strange Tonic hidden behind a Secret Door in Casterfell Woods' Castle Ruins.

Many recipes appear in multiple locations across the map; finding a second copy of a known recipe doesn't teach new skills but provides a tradeable item. All 38 recipe locations are trackable on our Atomfall complete interactive maps.

Homemade: The Trophy and the Fastest Route

"Homemade" (Bronze) — learn any 10 crafting recipes.

With 14 unique types available and 38 individual tracked locations, this unlocks naturally during normal play.

The fastest deliberate route: find and read the Crafting Manual, then unlock the Gunsmith skill — Gunsmith automatically teaches several gun upgrade recipes simultaneously, adding 3+ recipes to the known list in one action.

Combine that with recipes sold by Traders (Molly Jowett, Reg Stansfield, Billy Gorse, Bootsy Hughes, Nora Thorndike, Iris Baxter, Alf Buckshaw all stock recipes), and 10 unique recipes is achievable before leaving the first two surface regions.

The 14 Unique Recipe Types

• Consumable remedies: Bandage (game start), Painkillers, Burn Salve, Radiation Resistance, Antidote, Combat Stim, Strange Tonic

• Throwable weapons: Molotov Cocktail, Sticky Bomb, Makeshift Grenade, Nail Bomb, Explosive Lure, Poison Bomb

• Crafted tools: Shiv, B.A.R.D. Metal Detector (preorder exclusive — sold by Alf Buckshaw at Grendel's Head; does not count toward Homemade for non-preorder players)

Three Trophy Connections

• "Caught Red-Handed" (Bronze) — shoot an enemy who has just lit a Molotov Cocktail, causing it to drop and explode at their feet. The Outlaw Camp in Slatten Dale (30.7E, 75.5N near the Radio Tower) is the best location — Outlaws regularly throw Molotovs when alerted, and the camp provides multiple attempts if the first fails. Save before engaging.

• "Grand Slam" (Bronze) — kill 5 enemies with a single explosion. The Makeshift Grenade Recipe is available from Reg Stansfield in Slatten Dale. The Druid Castle courtyard in Casterfell Woods — where multiple Druids patrol in close proximity — is the recommended location. Craft and carry multiple Makeshift Grenades, wait for a tight cluster, and throw.

• "High Tea" (Bronze) — consume an English Tea, Slice of Cake, and Cornish Pastry within 30 seconds. These are lootable food items rather than crafted ones, found in kitchens, tea rooms, and cafeterias throughout the surface regions. Collect all three, hold them together in the same inventory run, and consume consecutively.

The Most Critical Recipe: Strange Tonic

The Strange Tonic (5 Herbs + 4 Spores + Chemicals + Glass) grants Infection Resistance — essential for The Interchange's infected Data Store Alpha area and the Windscale Plant's final approach.

The recipe sits behind a Secret Door behind the throne in the Castle Ruins main hall in Casterfell Woods. Enter the Castle Ruins, find the throne, look for the doorway directly behind it, enter the room on the right, and collect from the countertop.

This is the only in-world location for the Strange Tonic recipe — the only alternative is learning it through Mother Jago's questline.

Agravaine's Lockbox Connection

The Sticky Bomb Recipe is found inside Agravaine's Lockbox in the Slatten Dale Railyard — the same lockbox that also contains the MK. VI Revolver needed for the Target Practice trophy.

Opening the lockbox is therefore one of the most trophy-efficient single stops in the early game.
