Atomfall: Lunchbox Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Atomfall Lunchboxes are the 19 buried period-authentic British publications hidden across the Windscale Quarantine Zone — classic 1960s pocket library editions from the Thriller Picture Library, Super Detective Library, and Cowboy Picture Library series, sealed inside buried tins that only a Metal Detector can locate.

Finding any 5 earns the "Packed Lunch" (Bronze) trophy. Alongside all other collectibles, the 19 confirmed dig spot locations are included on our interactive Atomfall maps.

Lunchboxes vs Comics: Two Distinct Guides

The Lunchbox guide and the Comic guide track different physical formats of British publications. The Comics guide covers the 10 oversize magazine-format comics (John Steel: Special Agent in the large issue, Jet-Ace Logan in the comic strip format).

This guide covers the 19 pocket library editions — the same characters but in the smaller paperback Thriller Picture Library, Super Detective Library, and Cowboy Picture Library formats that were sold alongside the standard comics.

Both are real 1960s Fleetway/IPC publications found in Dig Spots across the map.

Two Trophies, One Tool

• "Packed Lunch" (Bronze) — find any 5 buried Lunchboxes. The three earliest ones in Slatten Dale (Steel Commando, The Spider, Air Ace Hurricane) are accessible within the first hour of play once the Metal Detector is obtained.

• "Where There's Muck There's Brass" (Bronze) — find any 10 metal detector caches. Lunchboxes and standard buried Lockboxes both count toward this total. With 19 Lunchboxes and dozens of Lockboxes across the map, this unlocks naturally during normal exploration.

The Critical Caveat: You Can't Tell Before Digging

The Metal Detector beeps identically for both a Lunchbox and a standard buried Lockbox. There's no way to identify which type is underground before digging it up.
