Atomfall: Herb Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Atomfall Herbs are the tall purple flower clusters growing across the Windscale Quarantine Zone — the crafting material at the heart of every status-effect remedy, and most critically, the Strange Tonic that grants Infection Resistance for surviving The Interchange's blue-spore areas.

The guide tracks two distinct subtypes: Herbs (surface regions) and Spores (underground cave environments only), both required by the Strange Tonic recipe.

Herbs vs Spores: Two Sub-Types, One Critical Recipe

Herbs — clusters of tall purple flowers growing throughout all four surface regions. Visually distinctive: look for the purple blooms at the base of trees, along riverbanks, next to stone fences, in gardens, and beside paths.

Spores — blue-purple fungal material from the Oberon infection, found only inside underground cave environments in Skethermoor: the Secret Tunnel (2 entries) and the Secluded Cave (4 entries). These are the same blue spores visible on walls throughout the infected world — collectible here as the source material.

Both are required by the Strange Tonic (5 Herbs + 4 Spores + 1 Chemicals + 3 Glass) — Mother Jago's infection-resistance remedy and the single most important consumable for surviving the Interchange's infected Data Store sections and the final Windscale Plant area.

What Herbs Craft: Priority Recipes

• Strange Tonic — Infection Resistance. Required for infected areas throughout the endgame. 5 Herbs + 4 Spores + Chemicals + Glass
• Burn Salve — cures and resists Burn damage from flamethrower robots and fire hazards. Herbs + Chemicals + Cloth
• Antidote — cures and resists Poison. Herbs + Chemicals + Glass
• Combat Stim — melee damage boost. Herbs + Chemicals + Cloth
• Painkillers — damage resistance. Herbs + Chemicals + Glass

The Strange Tonic and Antidote are the two most valuable herb-consuming recipes. Prioritise stockpiling Herbs before entering Skethermoor Prison and The Interchange.

Per-Region Distribution

• Casterfell Woods — 28 Herbs (most of any region): at the base of trees, around abandoned buildings, near the watermill, along the river and cliff edges, inside the greenhouse, and at the dam. Billy Gorse and Mother Jago both stock Herbs here when available.
• Wyndham Village — 26 Herbs: along riverbanks, near statues, by stone fences, near the small dock, and around the graveyard. Three are inside the restricted Protocol Outpost (guards present — approach with caution).
• Skethermoor — 12 Herbs (crop fields, greenhouse, river edges, near the Protocol barracks, withered tree area, ruined buildings) + 6 Spores (Secret Tunnel ×2, Secluded Cave ×4).
• Slatten Dale — 13 Herbs: along the river near the waterfall, on the broken bridge, by the small dam, near ruined buildings, and around trees.
• The Interchange — 0 Herbs or Spores. The entire underground facility contains no herbs of any kind. Stock Strange Tonic and other herb-based remedies before descending.

Herbs Respawn: Farm Before the Endgame

Herb locations reset after a period of in-game time — walking away and returning to the same area after completing other objectives will replenish the same spawn points.

The most efficient pre-Interchange herb run is a loop through Casterfell Woods and Wyndham Village (56 combined herb locations), gathering enough to craft multiple Strange Tonics and status-resistance consumables before the endgame begins.

Mother Jago in Casterfell Woods also sells both Herbs and Spores from her Trader stock when available — check her inventory after completing her questline.
