Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Ocelot Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Ocelots in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are the first animals Edward Kenway is required to hunt — two Ocelot Pelts are a mandatory objective during "This Tyro Captain" (Main Quest, Sequence 3), where crafting a Pistol Holster upgrade serves as the tutorial for the entire animal crafting system.

Beyond the story requirement, Ocelot Pelts unlock the game's most satisfying close-quarters combat move: the Gun Kata. All Ocelot locations are included on our Assassin's Creed Black Flag interactive maps.

Why Ocelot Pelts Matter: Pistol Holsters and Gun Kata

Pistol Holster I — 2 Ocelot Pelts → unlocks Edward's second pistol slot. The crafting chain continues with Rabbit Pelts for Holster II, then higher-tier materials for Holsters III and IV.

Fully completing all four holsters transforms combat: with four Pistols loaded simultaneously, Edward can chain four shots in rapid succession without reloading — a move known as Gun Kata that instantly drops multiple enemies during boarding actions and eliminates shielded Brutes before they can close the gap.

Ocelot Pelts are therefore the entry point to the game's most powerful ranged combat mechanic. The two mandatory kills in "This Tyro Captain" are only the beginning — completing the full four-holster chain requires one more Pistol Holster after Ocelot and Rabbit, making every Ocelot hunt in the mid-game still worthwhile.

Ocelot Pelts are also needed for the Feline Pelt Outfit — crafted at the Treasure Dealer in Great Inagua for 2 Ocelot Pelts + 6 Jaguar Pelts + 1 White Jaguar Pelt + 2 Black Jaguar Pelts.

Alternative: Once the Great Inagua General Store is fully upgraded, Ocelot Pelt can be purchased for 3 Bones each.

The Exotic Sea Shells Trinket doubles yield per kill (2 pelts instead of 1), making the mandatory two-pelt harvest from a single Ocelot possible.

How to Hunt Ocelots

Ocelots flee on detection — unlike Jaguars, which charge, and Iguanas, which wander slowly, Ocelots sprint into cover the moment they sense Edward.

Use Eagle Vision to tag the Ocelot before approaching, then shoot immediately from pistol range before it moves.

Any weapon yields the same drop: 1 Ocelot Pelt + 1 Bone per kill. If the Ocelot escapes, fast travel away and return — animals respawn when the area reloads.

Early Hunting Locations

• Abaco Island — northeastern side of the island. Multiple Ocelots patrol the area and are naturally encountered during "This Tyro Captain." The first and most accessible Ocelot hunting ground in the game, available from Sequence 3.

• Cumberland Bay — western Punta Guarico region of the Caribbean Sea. A mid-game Ocelot source accessible during open Caribbean exploration. Also hosts a buried treasure chest (solution to the Kingston Warehouse Treasure Map, coordinates 645, 355) — making a combined Ocelot hunt and chest sweep efficient.

Additional Wild Pig spawn points share several of the same islands as Ocelots, allowing combined hunting runs across Abaco Island for both animal types simultaneously.
