Jaguars in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are the most dangerous land animals in the Caribbean — hostile, fast-pouncing predators that drop Jaguar Pelt for crafting and, in their rare White variant, also yield Digested Map Fragments needed to assemble Restored Treasure Maps at the Great Inagua Treasure Dealer.
As with all wildlife, Jaguar spawn locations are fully documented and visible on our complete Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced maps.
Three Sub-Types, Three Different Drops
Resynced has three distinct Jaguar variants, each dropping a different crafting material:
- Standard Jaguar — the spotted yellow-and-black variant found across jungle islands. Drops Jaguar Pelt + Bone per kill. The primary target for crafting and the most commonly encountered.
- White Jaguar — a rare albino variant found exclusively at Great Inagua in the forest southeast of the manor (coordinates 811, 436). Drops White Jaguar Pelt + Bone per kill, and also yields Digested Map Fragments — one of the four fragment types needed to assemble Restored Maps at the Treasure Dealer, which lead to some of the most valuable Buried Treasure Chests in the game, including the Shade and Shadow Robes.
- Black Jaguar — a melanistic dark variant dropping Black Jaguar Pelt + Bone.
Crafting Uses: Health Upgrade III and Feline Pelt Outfit
- Health Upgrade III — 4 Jaguar Pelts → further increase to Edward's maximum health. The third step in the health upgrade chain after Health Upgrade I (Iguana Leather) and Health Upgrade II (Hammerhead Shark Bones).
- Feline Pelt Outfit — crafted at the Treasure Dealer in Great Inagua for 6 Jaguar Pelts + 1 White Jaguar Pelt + 2 Black Jaguar Pelts + 2 Ocelot Pelts. The most pelt-intensive outfit in the game and one of the few requiring all three Jaguar sub-types simultaneously.
- Alternative: At the fully upgraded Great Inagua General Store, Jaguar Pelt can be purchased for 4 Bones each. The Exotic Sea Shells Trinket doubles yield per kill (2 pelts instead of 1), halving the number of Jaguars needed for both crafting recipes.
The Most Dangerous Hunt: Approach Strategy
Unlike Iguanas, which wander passively, and Crocodiles, which charge from near ground level, Jaguars pounce from a distance at full sprint and can kill Edward in a few hits on lower health. Two reliable approaches:
- Stealth kill: Use Eagle Vision to spot and tag the Jaguar before it detects Edward. Crouch, approach from behind while the Jaguar is stationary, and perform an assassination — the instant kill avoids any pounce risk entirely.
- Ranged kill: Fire from maximum pistol range the moment the Jaguar is tagged. Two pistol shots at close-to-medium range typically kill standard Jaguars. If the pounce connects regardless, dodge immediately and counter with sword — fighting while pinned is not viable.
Confirmed Locations
- Cape Bonavista — northern area. Story-gated: Jaguars do not spawn during the prologue first visit. Return after completing "This Tyro Captain" (Sequence 3) when fast travel to Cape Bonavista unlocks.
- Sacrifice Island — Conttoyor region of the Caribbean Sea, west of Havana. Multiple Jaguars confirmed across the island. Accessible during mid-campaign free exploration.
- White Jaguar — Great Inagua (811, 436) — forest southeast of the manor. The only confirmed White Jaguar spawn in the game. Also, the source of Digested Map Fragments for Restored Maps at the Treasure Dealer.
