Wuchang: Fallen Feathers: Tao Qing Upgrade Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Tao Qing is one of two travelling merchants in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers — a vendor who specialises in rare Armor sets, Jade Pendants, and Spells available nowhere else.

Unlike Wu Gang, whose upgrades come from world exploration, 15 of Tao Qing's 17 upgrade items are automatic boss drops — he expands naturally with story progress. The remaining 2 require active tracking.

Delivering all 17 unlocks the Well Traveled trophy. All 17 item locations are marked on MapMaster's custom Wuchang: Fallen Feathers game maps.

How Tao Qing's Shop Works

Each upgrade item dropped by a Boss can be delivered to Tao Qing at his current location to expand his stock with that boss's themed armor set, associated Jade Pendant, and consumables.

Each delivery also triggers a lore exchange — Tao Qing shares a story about the defeated enemy and the history of the item they dropped. He accepts multiple upgrade items in a single visit — return to him with a backlog of items and keep speaking to him until he stops requesting "relics of the past."

Tao Qing's current location is always shown in the fast travel menu at any Shrine as a character portrait icon. His three fixed locations across the campaign:

• Shu Sanctum — from Chapter 1, left of the main entrance
• Refugee Camp — Chapter 3, in front of a tent
• Ruined Annalum — endgame, inside the small courtyard shack

Shop upgrades carry over to New Game Plus. All upgrades already unlocked remain active on subsequent runs.

The Two Non-Boss Upgrade Items

15 of 17 Tao Qing upgrade items drop automatically from story bosses — no searching required.

The two exceptions:

Scenic Painting (Annalum) — dropped by the Elite enemy with red glowing eyes, resting under the tree in the large courtyard. This is the only Tao Qing upgrade not from a formally named boss. The courtyard is in a side area off the main story path — from the Annalum Shrine, follow the path to the right over a bridge to reach the big red-eyed enemy. Defeat it to collect the Scenic Painting.

Shu Army Board (Avian Marsh) — dropped by Eternal Glory — Zhao Yun, an entirely optional boss. Unlocking this fight requires completing the White-Robed Elder NPC questline (agreeing to help him at Refugee Camp, defeating Bo Sorcerer with his summon), reaching Bo Capital in Chapter 5, then backtracking to Avian Marsh, where Zhao Yun has moved to the Tomb Shrine clearing. Delivering the Shu Army Board unlocks the Malice Sting Spear for 10,000 Red Mercury — the highest single purchase in Tao Qing's stock.

The Questline-Gated Upgrade: Magus' Eyepiece

Magus' Eyepiece (Underground Palace) drops from Bo Magus — but only if the Storyteller in Ruined Annalum agreed to help.

If his help was refused, Bo Magus is bypassed via a different path, and Magus' Eyepiece is permanently lost for that playthrough. The Well Traveled trophy cannot be unlocked without it.

What Fully Upgrading Tao Qing Unlocks

After all 17 items are delivered, Tao Qing's stock includes the following highest-value purchases:

• Kylin Pendant — 15,100 Red Mercury (unlocked via Ivory Seal from Bai Kru)
• Peace Pendant — 11,500 Red Mercury (Copper Drum from Bo Sorcerer)
• Malice Sting Spear — 10,000 Red Mercury (Shu Army Board from Zhao Yun)
• Lifesteal Pendant — 4,100 Red Mercury (Alltree Jade Cylinder from Reborn Treant – Soulwood)
• Bird Pendant — 3,300 Red Mercury (Believer's Statue from Blightweaver – Great Centipede)
• Fiend-Felling Pendant — 3,000 Red Mercury (Jade Cicada from Gluttonous Monstrosity – Lu Hongliu)

Missed an Item? The Donation Box Fallback

If entering Chapter 4 with a Worship's Rise upgrade item still uncollected, check the Donation Box at Reverent Temple before assuming it is permanently lost. Some missable items from locked-out areas occasionally reappear there.

The exception: the Scenic Painting from the Elite demon in Lightzen Temple, adjacent area, and the Shu Army Board from the optional Zhao Yun boss — these must be obtained from their original sources.
