Wuchang: Fallen Feathers: Gesture Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Gestures (also called emotes) are functional tools as much as social animations — required to solve environmental puzzles, unlock hidden rewards, and progress NPC questlines.

No trophy is tied to collecting them, but missing the wrong Gesture can lock out specific Armor Sets, quest items, and Blood of Wangdi entries that require specific emotes at shrines and altars.

Every tracked Gesture location is marked on our Wuchang: Fallen Feathers interactive world maps.

19 Gestures Total

There are 19 Gestures in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. The majority are received automatically through story progression and cannot be missed.

This guide tracks the 5 Gestures unlocked through specific NPC interactions that require particular dialogue choices, questline progress, or item exchanges — and are therefore missable.

All 5 are acquired through NPC questlines that span multiple regions. Missing a key dialogue option early in any chain blocks the associated Gesture for the rest of that playthrough.

How to Use Gestures in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Platform controls:

  • PlayStation — Press the left side of the Touchpad
  • Xbox — Press the View button (the Double Box button)
  • PC — Press the Y key

The Gesture Panel holds 8 quick-slot emotes at a time. Gestures not in the quick panel cannot be performed mid-world. Before approaching a Face of the Past, a blue interact point, or a specific altar, confirm the required Gesture is equipped in one of the 8 active slots.

Faces of the Past: How Gesture Puzzles Work

Throughout Shu, faint blue glowing markers appear on statues, graves, and altars — these are Faces of the Past interactions documented in the Statues guide.

Interacting with one presents a cryptic riddle hinting at the correct Gesture:

  • Stand directly in front of the blue glow — facing it at close range
  • Read the riddle and identify the matching Gesture ("Show your reverence" = Worship; "Look to the heavens" = Point Up; "Offer yourself" = Sacrifice)
  • Perform the correct Gesture from the quick panel
  • If correct, Wuchang speaks a memory from her past, and the reward drops — a Jade Pendant, a high-value crafting material, or a Divine Gift

If the Gesture is wrong or the position is off, nothing happens — no penalty, simply try again.

All 5 Unlockable Gesture Locations in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

  • Well MetLightzen Temple: Found on the path after the first boss, Nian Suichang sits against a tree outside the locked door. Choose "Agree to help him" to receive Well Met alongside the Bone Whistle — a key item used to summon NPC allies in specific boss fights. This is the first Gesture unlockable in the game and the start of Nian Suichang's multi-region questline.

  • Draw CircleLightzen Temple: The Child in the Jar near the well rewards Draw Circle when given the Dough Figurine of Mu Guiying, also found in Lightzen Temple. Find the Dough Figurine first, then approach the Child to exchange it.

  • SorryHillswatch: Nian Suichang appears again at Hillswatch after advancing his questline. Bring him the Tattered Pack found on the path in Snowy Passage to receive Sorry. The Tattered Pack appears in Snowy Passage only after the Nian Suichang questline has been progressed from Lightzen Temple — it does not appear if the questline was not started.

  • CelebrateCloudspire City: After meeting Matchstick in Cloudspire City, choose "Agree to join the gang" in dialogue. He rewards Celebrate on the spot. Choosing differently forfeits this Gesture and changes the outcome of his questline.

  • Twirl the PinwheelCapital Entrance: He Youzai rewards this Gesture after his questline has been followed through all five chapters — from his initial encounters in Worship's Rise through to his final appearance at Capital Entrance in Bo Capital. This is the most demanding questline-locked Gesture in terms of the number of NPC interactions required across the campaign.
