The First Berserker: Khazan: Boss Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

The First Berserker: Khazan features 38 boss encounters16 mandatory story bosses that block progression and 22 side mission bosses that reward gear, Phantom companions, and in two cases determine which of the game's three endings the player reaches.

Two Boss Types in The First Berserker: Khazan


Story bosses are mandatory encounters that must be defeated to progress the main campaign.


Each has a dedicated loot table — a set of Armor set pieces, a unique boss material used for crafting, and a fixed Lacrima and Gold reward on first defeat.


Several story bosses also trigger permanent feature unlocks: Bearius in Spider's Tomb - Blacksmith's Heirloom unlocks Blacksmith Qazumaka (the crafting NPC who makes all armor sets), and Maluca in Nadin Quarry unlocks Khazan's Devil Transformation.


Side mission bosses are optional encounters accessed through bonus missions accepted from NPCs in The Crevice. Most unlock after completing the associated main mission in their area.


They drop valuable gear and Epic crafting materials, and several unlock Phantom companions — passive stat-boosting spirits equipped at any Blade Nexus.

All 16 Story Bosses: Encounters, Drops, and Key Unlocks


The story boss sequence runs from Charnak Mountain Range through to the Vitalon Capital:


  • YetugaMount Heinmach. First boss. Drops Frozen Mountain Set pieces, Frozen Mountain Ruler's Horn, 4,800 Lacrima.
  • Blade PhantomStormpass. Defeating him and allying with him opens The Crevice hub and all fast travel.
  • Revenant of AdversityEmbars Ruins. Triggered mid-mission after stopping a Netherworld device. Fought before Viper.
  • Viper — Embars Ruins. Two-phase fight. Drops Soul Eater Set pieces and the Netherworld Mineral boss material.
  • VolbainoPhraugh Village. A Dragonkin commander. Drops Furious Bandit Set pieces and Bandits' Spoils.
  • BeariusSpider's Tomb - Blacksmith's Heirloom. Unlocks Blacksmith Qazumaka and the full armor crafting system.
  • AratraSkoffa Cave. Spider boss. Drops Devourer of Darkness Set pieces and Man-Eating Spider Leg. Community fastest kill: 13 seconds.
  • RangkusPalemion Citadel. Drops Beastslayer Set pieces and Beast's Jawbone.
  • ElameinEl Ravaca Village. Fought twice — the second encounter triggers after interacting with a mechanism in the same room.
  • ShactukaLinon Mine. Community fastest kill: 16 seconds.
  • YeturakMine No. 2 Workyard - Escaping Linon Mine. Enhanced Yetuga variant with plague moves added.
  • SergeiPath to the Camp - Last Command. Mandatory for the prisoner rescue storyline.
  • TrokkaLake City Aldevir. Drops Drowned Witch Set pieces, Witch's Tentacle, and Trokka's Letter.
  • Failed CreationAldevir Central District - Lacrima. Laboratory creature boss.
  • BellerianRephalan Mountains. After defeat, speak to her to recruit her to The Crevice as a functional NPC.
  • SkalpelVaisar Gate. Carries a demon's coffin on his back.
  • Princess IlynaRovelion Imperial Theatre. Drops Unending Tragedy Set pieces, and Princess's Mirror.
  • HismarCapital City Vitalon. The Berserk Dragon from the game's prologue story — an encounter the narrative has been building since the opening cutscene.
  • ReeseGreat Temple. Drops Faded Memories Set pieces, and Tears of Farewell. Community fastest kill: 17 seconds.
  • OzmaImperial Palace. Final boss and Khazan's former closest friend. Three possible endings depend on the choices made before reaching him.


Side Mission Bosses: Phantom Unlocks and Ending Requirements


Side mission bosses unlock the Phantom companion system and, in two cases, directly determine the game's ending. Key encounters:


Keshta the Unyielding (Stormpass) — the first side mission boss, fought immediately after completing the Stormpass main mission. Defeating Keshta unlocks the Phantom Abilities system itself. Without this fight, Phantom companions cannot be equipped at Blade Nexus.


Reaper (Wastus Canyon - Atlante the Precise) — unlocks the Atlante the Precise Phantom on defeat. This is one of the most mechanically demanding side encounters in the game.


Remnant of Elamein (Ruined Citadel - Transcendental Sword) — completing this side mission is required for the Truth ending and the Chains of Fate ending. Missing this locks the player into the normal ending only.


Netherworld Jocko + Netherworld Tigron + Netherworld Aratra (Vitalon Underground Passage - Charon's Chains) — the only three-boss simultaneous fight in the game, all three Netherworld variants attacking at once. Completing Charon's Chains alongside Transcendental Sword is required for the Chains of fate darkest ending, reached by only 25% of players.


Corrupted Creation + Mutated Rosha (Vaisar's Hidden Chamber - Crimson Trace) — the only dual-boss simultaneous fight in the guide.

Three Special Boss Mechanics Worth Knowing


Viper's two phases — Viper in Embars Ruins transitions mid-fight. The second phase adds new abilities and a different attack pattern to an already multi-weapon moveset. Both phase transitions are noted in the checklist entry.


Elamein's double encounter — Elamein in El Ravaca Village is the only story boss fought twice in the same area. The second encounter triggers after Khazan interacts with a mechanism in the same room — the mechanism's position is cross-linked in the checklist.


Progressive Lacrima on death — unique to Khazan among soulslike games: dying during a boss fight after dealing sufficient damage deposits partial Lacrima at the boss entrance. This is claimable immediately on respawn without clearing the area again, making aggressive attempts financially sensible.


Boss Farming: How to Replay Any Encounter


Every boss — story and side — can be refought after their first defeat by replaying the mission via the Spectral Portal in The Crevice.


Replaying a mission doesn't require completing the full area: teleport to the Blade Nexus nearest the boss arena, enter the fog gate, and fight.


Boss farming is the primary method for completing Armor sets — each story boss has a unique special crafting material that drops randomly, required by Blacksmith Qazumaka alongside the set's Scroll to craft the full set.


Danjin's shop begins stocking Epic crafting materials as the campaign progresses — an alternative to boss farming for specific materials once his inventory expands.

Princess Ilyna is the Rovelion Imperial Theatre boss, and defeating her is mandatory for story progression.

OzmaImperial Palace

Ozma is the Imperial Palace boss, and defeating him is mandatory for story progression. Upon defeating Ozma, you reach his quarters.

The Ninety-Ninth Owl is the area boss, and defeating it is mandatory for the Centurial Order side mission.

Maluca is the Nadin Quarry boss, and defeating him is mandatory for story progression.

BeariusSpider's Tomb - Blacksmith's Heirloom

Found in the middle of its lair. Defeating Bearius is mandatory for story progression.

TrokkaLake City Aldevir

Trokka is the Lake City Aldevir boss, and defeating her is mandatory for story progression.

Revenant of AdversityEmbars Ruins

The Revenant of Adversity spawns after you stop the device via story progression.

ViperEmbars Ruins

Viper is the Embars Ruins boss, and defeating him is mandatory for story progression. Be advised that the fight features two phases.

YetugaMount Heinmach

Found in the large clearing at the end of the Mount Heinmach area. Yetuga is the final boss of Mount Heinmach. Defeating Yetuga is mandatory for progressing the story and reaching Stormpass.

Failed CreationAldevir Central District - Lacrima

Failed Creation is the area boss, and defeating it is mandatory for story progression.

ShactukaLinon Mine

Shactuka is the Linon Mine boss, and defeating him is mandatory for story progression.

VolbainoPhraugh Village

Volbaino is the Phraugh Village boss, and defeating him is mandatory for story progression.

YeturakMine No. 2 Workyard - Escaping Linon Mine

Yeturak is the area boss, and defeating him is mandatory for story progression.

Keshta the UnyieldingStormpass

Keshta the Unyielding spawns in the boss arena and must be defeated to complete the Stormpass' Phantom of Combat side mission.

Specter of BhangauBhangau Residence - Night of Tragedy

Specter of Bhangau is the boss that you must defeat for the Night of Tragedy side mission.

AratraSkoffa Cave

Found in the middle of the large area. Aratra is the Skoffa Cave boss, and defeating him is mandatory for story progression. After you kill Aratra, you return to the Realm of the Living Crevice.
