The First Berserker: Khazan: Collection Item Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Finding The First Berserker: Khazan Collection Items is essential for uncovering the game's deepest lore and unlocking the true ending. Every confirmed position — world floor pickups, boss drops, automatic quest rewards, and enemy loot — is tracked on MapMaster's The First Berserker: Khazan interactive maps, all 40 hand-drawn originals built exclusively by the MapMaster team.

Two Types of Collection Items in The First Berserker: Khazan

Standard Collection Items are documents, diaries, logs, and artefacts scattered throughout the world — soldiers' journals, research notes, evacuation orders, and personal letters that expand the backstory of characters and locations without advancing the main plot.

Finding any single one unlocks the Traces of a Stranger trophy, which happens naturally through story progress. Standard Collection Items are worth reading for their lore depth, but are not required for any completion-critical achievement beyond Traces of a Stranger.

Golden Collection Items are the high-priority tier — 15 items total that directly develop the main plot through Ozma's perspective. They appear visually similar to standard items but carry a gold marker in the checklist.

Finding all 15 unlocks Ozma's Past trophy and is a mandatory prerequisite for THE FIRST BERSERKER ending trophy — the true ending.

The other requirements for that ending are completing the Transcendental Sword and Charon's Chains side missions. Miss any Golden Collection Item, and the true ending is locked for the current playthrough.

The 15 Golden Collection Items: Ozma's Past and the True Ending

The Golden Collection Items are Ozma's diary fragments and associated personal documents that explain his relationship with Khazan, the conspiracy behind Khazan's exile, and the choices that led to the events of the game.

They're distributed across mid-to-late areas and require completing specific side missions to access several of them. The guide tracks each Golden Collection Item with a distinct marker — scroll through the checklist below and use the gold tag to identify every priority pickup before leaving each area.

Ozma's connection to other key NPCs in the world is contextualised in these items and cannot be found elsewhere in the game.

Three Ways Collection Items Are Obtained

World floor pickups are the most common — documents lying beside corpses, on tables, in corners of rooms, and against walls. Several are hidden:

Enemy and boss drops account for a significant portion of the catalogue. Every side mission boss drops a narrative Collection Item on first defeat:

Named elite enemies also drop items: The Brothers' Merged Hands from the Twisted Mage in Sentinels' Fortress - Last Sentinel, Confessions of Viladus from the Soulbound Knight in Great Temple.

Automatic pickups are quest-bound Collection Items that collect themselves upon a specific event. The Escort Order in Mount Heinmach is obtained automatically after defeating a scout.

Hismar's Scale is collected automatically after defeating Viper in Embars Ruins. The Bandit's Order in Forgotten Underground Canal - Pavel's Final Words drops automatically from a Knivesveil Outlaw.

Each auto-pickup is noted in the checklist so players don't waste time searching for items that collect themselves.

Multi-Part Item Series Worth Tracking Simultaneously

Several Collection Items form a named series spread across multiple areas. Tracking them together is more efficient than treating each as an isolated pickup:

  • Reese (3 parts) — Part 1 in Capital City Vitalon, parts 2 and 3 in Great Temple. Collecting all three before the Reese boss fight gives the encounter full narrative context.

Keeping an eye on Soulstones during the same sweeps is efficient — both are found throughout the same areas, and both contribute to the Trophy guide 100% completion checklist.
