Forza Horizon 5 PlayStation: Trailblazer Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Trailblazers in Forza Horizon 5 are the 13 off-road sprint challenges in Mexico that use a format found nowhere else in the game's PR Stunt system: a countdown timer triggered at the start gate that must still show more than a set number of seconds when the finish gate is crossed.

Speed Traps measure peak speed, Drift Zones measure score, Danger Signs measure distance — Trailblazers measure how much time buffer you carry across the finish line after a direct off-road sprint between two gates.

All 13 confirmed Trailblazer locations and their 3-star requirements are included alongside all other events on our Forza Horizon 5 (FH5) Mexico map.

Unlocking Trailblazers: Canyon Expedition

Trailblazers are part of the PR Stunts family alongside Speed Traps, Speed Zones, Drift Zones, and Danger Signs — all unlocking simultaneously after completing the Canyon Expedition (Horizon Rush Outpost, "Adrenaline Rush" Bronze trophy).

Water Performance: The Trophy With Two Different Descriptions

"Water Performance" (Bronze) — earn 3 stars at both Puerta Pétrea AND La Marisma Trailblazers within 3 minutes 30 seconds. The trophy description on some platforms incorrectly states "2 minutes" — ignore it. The actual requirement confirmed by the in-game Accolade and the PS5 trophy page is 3:30.

Three critical rules for this trophy:

1. The timer starts after the FIRST Trailblazer. You have unlimited time to reach and 3-star the first Trailblazer — the 3:30 clock only begins once you exit it with 3 stars. Start with La Marisma (3-star: 20s remaining) since it's slightly easier, then ride to Puerta Pétrea (3-star: 25s remaining) with 3:30 on the clock.

2. No fast travel between them. Fast travel resets the challenge. Plan the route on the map before starting, and drive directly between the two locations.

3. Rewind after the first Trailblazer doesn't pause the clock. Using Rewind during the freeride between the two gates or during Puerta Pétrea itself doesn't rewind the 3:30 timer. Use a high-speed AWD off-road car, pin a waypoint to Puerta Pétrea after La Marisma, and take the most direct cross-terrain line.

All 13 Trailblazers: 3-Star Buffer Requirements

  • City Escape — 35s remaining (most generous — best starting point)
  • Barranco — 30s remaining
  • Quebrada — 30s remaining
  • Desert Descent — 25s remaining
  • Granjas — 25s remaining
  • Cascadas — 25s remaining
  • Puerta Pétrea — 25s remaining (Water Performance target #2)
  • Canyon Run — 25s remaining
  • Over The Dune — 25s remaining
  • Sand and Deliver — 25s remaining
  • La Marisma — 20s remaining (Water Performance target #1)
  • Malpaís — 15s remaining (tightest buffer — hardest 3-star)
  • The JuggernautNo 3-star target (Horizon Finale event — completion only)

The Juggernaut: Horizon Finale Within This Category

The Juggernaut is the ultimate Trailblazer — a Horizon Finale event embedded in this PR Stunt category. It has no 3-star time buffer requirement; reaching the finish gate completes it.

Unlocking The Juggernaut contributes toward "Viva Horizon!" (Bronze, unlock your first Horizon Finale Event) if The Juggernaut is the first Finale event reached.

The Routing Skill: Go Direct, Not By Road

Every Trailblazer is an off-road sprint — the fastest route between the start and finish gates is rarely along any road. Identify the finish gate position on the map before crossing the start gate, then plot the most direct terrain line, ignoring road networks entirely.

Hedgerows, rivers, and hills all slow the approach; the flattest direct line in a high-clearance AWD car — such as a Lamborghini Urus or Porsche Cayenne Turbo tuned for off-road — consistently outperforms faster but lower-slung cars that lose speed over rough terrain.

Living Legend: Trailblazers' Contribution

"Living Legend" (Gold) — earn 294 stars from PR Stunts in Mexico. The 13 Trailblazers (including The Juggernaut at 0 stars maximum) contribute up to 36 stars maximum toward the 294 total.

With City Escape at 35s remaining being the most generous, that's the recommended first 3-star attempt to verify car and route choices before attempting the tighter buffers.
