Speed Traps in Forza Horizon 5 measure a single thing: the speed your car is travelling when it breaks the beam. All 45 Speed Trap locations across Mexico, the Horizon Hot Wheels Park, and Sierra Nueva — each with its confirmed 3-star speed target in MPH and km/h — are documented across our three interactive maps: Mexico, Horizon Hot Wheels Park, and Sierra Nueva.

Unlocking Speed Traps: Canyon Expedition

Speed Traps are part of the PR Stunts family alongside Danger Signs, Speed Zones, and Drift Zones.

All unlock after completing the Canyon Expedition (Horizon Rush Outpost), earning the "Adrenaline Rush" Bronze trophy.

Living Legend: Stars From Every Trap

"Living Legend" (Gold) — earn 294 stars from PR Stunts across Mexico. Each Speed Trap awards up to 3 stars per attempt and can be replayed for higher speeds.

With 35 Mexico Speed Traps available, maximising stars — rather than accepting 1 or 2 stars — significantly reduces the burden on the other PR Stunt types.

Two Traps With Specific Approach Notes

• Vado de Río (135 MPH) — start from the hill south of the Vado del Rio PR Stunt and drive in a straight line.
• Recommended car: 204 Local Motors Rally Fighter.

• Pyramid of the Sun (165 MPH) — drive in a straight line starting north of the marker; hit the left side of the hill near the trap to minimise speed loss on the jump.
• Recommended car: 2011 BMW X5 M.
