Revenge of the Savage Planet: Fauna Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Fauna in Revenge of the Savage Planet is the largest Kindex category — 73 entries covering every living creature across all four planets, from harmless ambient critters to apex predators, bosses, and even living obstacles.

Scanning all of them is mandatory for 100% Kindex completion and the No Stone Unturned quest.

Every entry's location is documented on our unique Revenge of the Savage Planet interactive maps.

Fauna Is Broader Than Capturable Creatures

The Fauna Kindex includes everything alive — not just the 36 species covered in the Capturable Creature guide.

Tiny critters that die on contact (Mantis, Kiwi Slug), aquatic species the whip can't reach (Skittlefish, Needle Pike, Jellyrubes in Chikit's Pools), aerial giants like the Sky Whale and Moommooth Whale, and full bosses all carry Fauna entries.

Capture is optional; scanning is not.

Bosses Count — Scan Them Mid-Fight or After

Wormzilla (Larval Roost) and Clawbarella (The Depths of Trrn) both have Fauna entries. Scanning mid-fight also reveals their weak points, so the scan does double duty.

Wormzilla is fought twice — two chances to register the entry — and boss corpses remain scannable at the arena after the fight if the encounter ended without a scan.

The One Scan Everyone Misses: Hanging Uvula

During the Wormzilla encounter, the fight moves inside the worm — and the Hanging Uvula scannable exists only in there. It's the single most reported missing Kindex entry in the community, because nothing about a boss's throat suggests "stop and scan."

While recent patches appear to have improved retrievability, the safe play is simple: the moment you're swallowed, open the scanner before doing anything else.

The Greyed-Out Scan Trick

A community-confirmed quirk that rescues stubborn entries: some objects appear greyed out in scanner view — no orange highlight, no "scan" prompt — but holding the scan button for a couple of seconds still registers the Kindex entry.

It looks like nothing is happening right up until it completes. If an entry refuses to appear despite standing at the correct spot on the map, hold the scan anyway.

Alphas and Oddities

Seven Alpha variants (Alpha Raccocco in Slarragon Forest, Alpha Vaperon, Alpha Toxwin, Alpha Sluggator among them) carry their own separate Fauna entries — scanning the base species does not cover its Alpha.

Rounding out the quirkier corners of the category: the Ed IV Special and Blind Moroue at Savannah Lake, the Flying Trash Rat at Alta's Trash Mountain, the Giant Worm Egg preceding the Wormzilla fight, and Nocturnus Williamus — proof Raccoon Logic names creatures the way the rest of us name pets.
