Nioh 3: Lesser Crucible Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Step into a Lesser Crucible in Nioh 3, and the exit seals behind you. The arena doesn't open again until every enemy wave is cleared and the red Crucible Spike at the centre is destroyed β€” or until you die.

With 23 Lesser Crucibles spread across Warring States, Heian, Bakumatsu, and the Final Battle of Edo, clearing all of them earns the Lesser Crucible Eradicator Silver trophy.

Every Lesser Crucible is marked with its wave count, specific enemy warnings, and environmental hazards on our Nioh 3 interactive maps.

How Do Lesser Crucibles Work?

Lesser Crucibles are combat arenas that spawn waves of enemies. Defeat all enemies, then destroy the red crystal blocking the path.

Once you enter, a red barrier seals the exit. Each cleared arena destroys a Crucible Spike, which increases your Spirit Force β€” the stat required to use more powerful Guardian Spirit Skills.

Clearing a Lesser Crucible also unlocks new Spirit Veins that were previously blocked, restores nearby Corrupted Shrines, and advances your regional Exploration Level β€” pushing you toward Level 4, where all remaining collectibles get auto-marked on your map.

Two Trophies, One Clear Strategy

  • Lesser Crucible Cleanser (Bronze) unlocks on your very first cleared arena.
  • Lesser Crucible Eradicator (Silver) requires all 23.

Nothing is missable β€” all areas remain explorable after the story, and all missions are replayable via the Battle Scroll at Shrines.

An easy strategy is to use Summoning Seals and throw Ninjutsu from a safe distance to clear out the enemies. Unlock Summoning Seals by defeating Crucible Wraiths β€” each Wraith you defeat makes that Yokai type's seal available at Shrines.

The more Wraiths you've cleared before tackling Lesser Crucibles, the stronger your summoned allies.

Wave Counts and What to Expect

Most Lesser Crucibles run three enemy waves before the Crucible Spike spawns. Exceptions:

  • Iinoya (Warring States) runs five waves β€” the most of any standard Lesser Crucible, inside a ruined temple with limited movement room.
  • The Nijo Castle northern entry (Bakumatsu) runs four waves blocking the bridge toward the Kyoto Imperial Palace.
  • The Final Battle of Edo Crucibles vary in wave structure, and they escalate significantly.

Four locations on our checklist carry explicit warnings you should consider:

  • Futamata Road (Warring States): A Gaki Chief spawns during the waves β€” one of the most dangerous standard Yokai in Warring States.

  • Rokuhara (Heian): A Kamaitachi variant appears in the final wave.

  • Nishiichi (Heian): The arena sits on the roofs of flooded houses β€” holes in the floor will drop you into the water below, breaking your combo chain mid-wave.

  • Eddo (Final Battle of Edo): The final Lesser Crucible before the endgame, flagged as the hardest in the entire set.
