Crimson Desert: Cooking Recipe Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Crimson Desert, every meal is a strategic buff. Cooking Recipes — known in-game as Culinary Knowledge — are physical items found on tables in manor kitchens, on shop counters, in innkeeper inventories, and handed out as quest rewards, all unlocking permanent recipes in your Knowledge menu.

What You Already Have From Day One


At the start of the New Journey quest, the game auto-unlocks a full batch of Open Flame basics: Grilled Meat, Grilled Bird Meat, Grilled Vegetables, Grilled Fruit, Toasted Grains, Small Grilled Fish, Grilled Fish, Large Grilled Fish, Smoked Eggs, Grilled Pincers, and Grilled Seafood.


These require only an open flame — any lit campfire will do. You don't need to search for them.


Four Cooking Station Types


Each recipe in the checklist requires a specific station type — using the wrong one produces nothing:


  • Open Flame — basic campfire or lit torch. Required for the auto-unlocked grilling recipes above.
  • Cooking Tool — standard cooking station: any Bonfire, cooking pot, or hearth across Pywel. The majority of recipes use this.
  • Special Cooking Tool — advanced station required for higher-tier recipes like Pan-Fried Rice Cakes, Mixed Skewers, and the Lavish Meal.
  • Cauldron — required for alchemy-adjacent drinks: Honey Tea, Oakwood Mushroom Tea, Mild Herbal Tea, Vegetable Juice, and Wine. See the Cauldron guide for all Cauldron locations.


Five Ways Recipes Are Acquired


World Finds


These are sitting on tables, shelves, and floors throughout manors, cabins, shops, and castle kitchens.


The Meat and Vegetable Porridge sits on the counter in the Hernand Castle Kitchen; the Braised Ribs is on the floor next to a pillar in the castle's courtyard church; the Fishball Soup is on a wooden table outside the Hernand Constabulary.

Vendor Purchases


Inn vendors and settlement traders sell recipes for Silver. Dahlia at Hernand Tavern sells Pickled Vegetables, Braised Fish, and Pan-Fried Rice Cakes.


Grania in Kharonso sells Fruit Punch, Pan-Fried Vegetables, and Meat and Fish Porridge. Mathilde at Thalwynd Tavern sells Pan-Fried Marinated Meat.


Note: Purchased recipes don't register automatically. After buying one, open your inventory and examine it to add it to your Culinary Knowledge.


NPC Conversations


Some recipes unlock by talking to specific characters. Speak to the stranger by the ballot pile at Goldleaf Trading Post to unlock both Battered Meat and Fish and Mixed Skewers.


Speak to the villager wearing a green shirt on the northern side of Hernand City to learn Oakwood Mushroom Tea.


Quest Rewards


Fish Porridge is awarded by Renee the Hernand Butcher when you start her request.


The Clear Soup recipe appears on a table during the Reward for Their Sweat main quest. See the Faction Quest guide for the full request list.


Enemy Drops


Some recipes drop randomly from enemies. Braised Meat drops from Blinding Arrows enemies at Bloodsteel Camp in Hernand.


The Lavish Meal — Most Complex Recipe in the Game


The Lavish Meal requires a Special Cooking Tool and several cooked sub-ingredients: Fruit x5 + Grilled Meat Steak x2 + Mixed Skewers x1 + Grain Soup x2.


The recipe itself is locked in a Strongbox on the top floor of Hernand Castle, behind a locked door (requires a Key).

Found in the Brookfield Manor Strongbox behind the Rotating Bookshelf. To open the Strongbox, listen to the tune played on the right side of the Strongbox, then reproduce it using the buttons on the front.

Found on a counter inside a locked house, in Arcosa.

Pan-Fried Marinated MeatHernand

The Pan-Fried Marinated Meat Recipe is sold by Mathilde in Thalwynd Tavern. Make sure that once you buy it, you examine it.

Ingredients: 

  • Meat x3 + Fruit x2 + Vegetable x2 + Cooking Oil x3
  • Meat: Tough Meat, Lean Meat, Tender meat, etc.
  • Fruit: Raspberry, Blackberry, Pomegranate, etc.
  • Vegetables: Onion, Garlic, Carrot, etc.


Description: 

  • Restores Health, and slightly fills Spirit when consumed. Thinly sliced meat marinated in fruit juice and seasonings, then quickly stir-fried over high heat. With its distinct smoky aroma, it is a classic side dish that pairs perfectly with rice.
Meat SkewersHernand

Found on the wooden table between the broken crates and barrels. It can be obtained during the battle.

Description: 

  • Tender, simmered meat enhanced with the sweetness of fruit to bring out a rich, savory flavor. This hearty side dish, with its perfect balance of sweet and salty, pairs excellently with rice.

  • Restores Health, and fills Spirit when consumed. A staple of any feast, this meal features meat, vegetables, and grains stir-fried in a sweet sauce. Its vibrant colors and rich flavors make it the centerpiece of any table.
