Code Vein 2: Combat Formae Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Combat in Code Vein 2 runs on Ichor. You wound enemies with your weapon, drain them with your Jail to extract that Ichor, then spend it on Combat Formae — the active offensive skills slotted into your weapon's Forma build.

What Combat Formae Are and How They Work


Combat Formae are one of three Weapon Formae categories — alongside Magic Formae and Support Formae.


Each weapon has between one and four Forma slots, and Combat Formae can be slotted into any compatible slot. Damage scales with your weapon's stats and attributes; higher relevant stats mean stronger Forma output.


Every Combat Formae activation costs Ichor. If you attempt to use a Forma without enough Ichor, the activation fails — maintaining your Ichor reserves through Drain Attacks is what keeps Combat Formae viable in extended fights.


Equipping a Formae requires meeting the weapon's capacity values (Reliability, Handling, Conversion, Conductivity) — if a Forma exceeds the weapon's capacity in any category, it can't be equipped at all.


Swap and customise Formae at any Mistle via the "Customise Weapon" option. A Combat Formae picked up from a chest, merchant, or floor can also be duplicated for use on a second weapon — but a weapon's original innate Formae cannot be duplicated, only Formae you've acquired independently.


Four Ways to Get Combat Formae


  • World floor pickups — the majority. Combat Formae appear as floor loot across The Continent, MagMell Island, and every dungeon. These are the most numerous and the ones most easily missed without a map.


  • Jadwiga's Minion merchants — a significant second source. Minions at over a dozen Continent locations sell Combat Formae for Haze: the Refugee Village Minion sells Flash Fleche, Chariot Reave, Whirling Shredder, Air Blast, and Blow of Madness. The Forward Base Two Minion sells Drill Breaker, Drawback Shot, Scorpion, and Overdrive. The Tower of Regeneration Minion sells Wraith's Fury, Dive Bomb, and Spinning Rampage. Every Minion position is marked alongside its stock.


  • Optional Boss drops — eleven optional bosses drop unique Combat Formae that can't be found elsewhere. Reuben the Pioneer Captain drops Dusk Edge. Metagen Remnant in Mountain Hamlet drops Boosted Blade - Horizon. Masterless Soldier drops Healing Casket. Scarlett, the Incarnation of Lust, drops Sacrificial Edge. The Wandering Revenant Hunters drop Satellite Saucer. Defeating optional bosses is the primary route to these.


  • Story automatic — Thunderclap is the only Combat Formae obtained automatically, granted after the Pioneer Castle control room cutscene.


All 120+ Combat Formae Locations


The densest concentration is on The Continent, covering all three mainland biomes plus their dungeons.


MagMell Island and its underground ruins hold the early-game Combat Formae, including the Sonic Arrow, Frost Wave, and Vorpal Flash from the Pier Minion.


Pioneer Castle has six Combat Formae across merchant stock and chests.
