Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Animus Key Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide
Animus Keys in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced are bundles of 30 Keys hidden across the Caribbean — the in-game currency for the Animus Hub Exchange Store, which sells legacy outfits, weapons, and cosmetics from across the Assassin's Creed series.
They appear as white glowing cubes bearing the Animus triangle logo and cannot be purchased with real money.
All locations are documented across Map Master's Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced interactive maps.
What Animus Keys Unlock: The Exchange Store
Animus Keys are spent in the Exchange section of the Animus Hub (accessible from the pause menu). The store rotates cosmetics, with notable confirmed items including:
- Connor's Outfit (Connor's Assassin robes from Assassin's Creed III) — 3,000 Keys. The most-discussed legacy unlock at launch, replacing the Uplay challenge system from the original game as the home of cross-series Assassin outfits.
- Altaïr's Swords and Ezio's Swords — legacy blades from the Ezio trilogy, available at the Exchange alongside Connor's gear. Additional legacy Outfits including Ezio and Altaïr's robes, are expected to be added to the Exchange in future updates.
- Ship cosmetics and weapons — rotating selection of Jackdaw personalisation items and Edward's gear tied to the Exchange's weekly rotation.
Cross-Game: Keys Work in Both Resynced and Shadows
Animus Keys are shared across the Ubisoft account — any Keys accumulated while playing Assassin's Creed Shadows carry over directly to Black Flag Resynced and vice versa.
Both games use the same Exchange Store infrastructure, meaning Keys earned from these five Caribbean pickups can be spent on AC Shadows rewards, and AC Shadows Keys earned from its own world collectibles can fund Connor's Outfit in Resynced.
World Keys vs Projects: Where Most Keys Come From
Exchange items start at 3,000 Keys, so world pickups alone won't reach the purchase threshold without supplementary grinding.
The main Key source is Animus Projects — the game's free battle pass tracks (Eye in the Dark, Riptides, Undertow), each award approximately 3,500–4,000 Keys for progressing their reward tiers by completing
Anomaly challenges. World Key pickups are meaningful headstarts and contribute to overall accumulation, but Projects are the primary route to the Exchange's most expensive items.
How to Find Them: Viewpoints and the Animus Logo
Keys appear on the Viewpoint map scout system — syncing a Viewpoint in a region reveals Keys in the surrounding area as triangle icons on the map.
If no Keys are showing in an area, the nearest Viewpoint probably hasn't been synced yet.
Confirmed World Locations
Some of the following Animus Key bundles have been confirmed across the Caribbean so far. Each awards 30 Keys on collection.
- Behind the small waterfall on the southern side of Cape Bonavista.
- In front of the cannons outside Castillo San Salvador de la Punta on the northern side of Havana.
- On the northern side of the small island directly west of Abaco Island in the Caribbean Sea.
- On the eastern side of Abaco Island, at the end of a bent tree — climb the tree and jump to the nearby tree stump to collect.
- Floating between two tree branches above the western swamp in Nassau — simply jump and grab.
The Animus Key system works alongside Vault Data Files as the two Animus Hub collectible types tracked in the open world — Keys feed the Exchange, while Vault Data Files unlock lore entries in the Animus database.
