Yooka-Replaylee: Upgrade Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Character Upgrades in Yooka-Replaylee are the permanent stat improvements sold exclusively by Trowzer in every Grand Tome world — the only way to increase Yooka and Laylee's health, energy, and active Tonic capacity.

All 15 Upgrades across all five worlds are purchased with Quills, and every Trowzer vendor position is pinned on the Yooka-Replaylee interactive maps.

Trowzer also sells Tonics and Cosmetics at each location — all three item types are available from the same vendor at the same pinned position.

Three Upgrade Types in Yooka-Replaylee

• Health Extender — adds one extra heart to the maximum health pool. One available per Grand Tome world, five total across the game. Buying all five earns the Extendermate trophy and is directly recommended by every Platinum roadmap as the first priority in each new world.

• Energy Extender — increases the energy meter used by the Camo Cloak and other ability charges. Five total across the game. A fully extended energy meter is required for the Seeing it Through trophy — holding the Camo Cloak active for 30 continuous seconds — making all five Energy Extenders effectively mandatory for Platinum.

• Tonic Slot — unlocks one additional active Tonic slot. Starts at 1 slot; purchasing all five across the game allows 6 Tonics to be equipped simultaneously. Purchasing at least 4 additional slots (to reach 5 equipped Tonics) is required for the Supertonic trophy.

Buy Early: Prices Rise With Each World

All three Upgrade types are available in every world, but prices increase as the campaign progresses. Buying earlier saves Quills overall:

• Health Extenders: Tribalstack Tropics and Glitterglaze Glacier — 25 Quills each. Moodymaze Marsh, Capital Cashino, and Galleon Galaxy — 30 Quills each. Total: 140 Quills for all five.

• Energy Extenders: Tribalstack Tropics, Glitterglaze Glacier, Moodymaze Marsh, and Capital Cashino — 25 Quills each. Galleon Galaxy — 20 Quills. Total: 120 Quills for all five.

• Tonic Slots: Tribalstack Tropics — 30 Quills. Glitterglaze Glacier — 30 Quills. Moodymaze Marsh — 35 Quills. Capital Cashino — 40 Quills. Galleon Galaxy — 45 Quills. Total: 180 Quills for all five. The Tonic Slot price scales the most aggressively — buying early costs significantly less than delaying. All 15 Upgrades together cost 440 Quills.

With 750 total Quills in the game and additional Pagie-related Quill rewards, there's enough across a complete playthrough to purchase all Upgrades alongside Trowzer's full Tonic and Cosmetic catalogues — provided Quills are spent efficiently rather than hoarded.
