Resident Evil Requiem: Typewriter Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

There are 10 Typewriters in Resident Evil Requiem — Grace Ashcroft's manual save points across the Care Center, Water Treatment Plant, and ARK. Every confirmed location is included on MapMaster's regional interactive maps, available on our Resident Evil Requiem guide hub.

Grace Only: How Typewriters Work in Resident Evil Requiem

The Typewriter is only available in Grace's sections of the game. Grace can save the game manually at any typewriter — Ink Ribbons are required to save on Standard Classic and above.

Every Typewriter is paired with an Item Box, making save rooms the natural hub for inventory management. Interacting with a Typewriter also triggers the iconic safe room music — your signal that you've reached a protected zone where enemies cannot enter.

The game does have an autosave system that triggers at boss approach points and key story moments. On Casual and Standard Modern, autosaves fire frequently enough that Typewriters are mainly for peace of mind.

On Standard Classic and Insanity, autosaves are reduced significantly, and Typewriters become your primary safety net.

Leon's Saving System: Computer Terminals

Leon can save the game manually at various computer terminals throughout the game. Leon does not use Typewriters — the Computer Terminals in his safe rooms serve the same function.

One rusted typewriter is visible in the ruins of the Raccoon City Police Department during Leon's section, but it is purely decorative and cannot be used.

Both characters' save systems respect the difficulty-specific requirements: Ink Ribbons are needed on Standard Classic and Insanity, free saves on Casual and Standard Modern.

Difficulty and Ink Ribbons: What Changes

On Casual and Standard (Modern), saving at any Typewriter is free and unlimited — interact and confirm. On Standard (Classic) and Insanity, each manual save costs one Ink Ribbon.

Without a ribbon in inventory, the Typewriter will not let you save. The Infinite Ink Ribbon — unlocked by completing the Speed Demon trophy (under 4 hours, release Elpis) — removes the resource cost entirely on all subsequent runs.

Saving Strategy for Standard Classic and Insanity

Save before every boss arena and before every door that advances the story past a point of no return.

The Care Center has two: dropping into the Basement locks the upper floors, and exiting to the Courtyard locks the entire interior. Check the surrounding area when you reach a Typewriter — a nearby Ink Ribbon is often placed close to the typewriter as a fallback for players who have run dry.

Combining this with Item Box management (deposit any Ink Ribbon Tins before saving to free inventory space) keeps your ribbon economy healthy through the full Care Center run.

• Guard Office — small table in the Guard Office (1F, near Central Hall).
• Lead Researcher's Office — long drawer cabinet (2F East Wing).
• Custodian's Office — desk next to the Wrench (West Wing).
• Security Room — beside the Item Box (Care Center Basement).
• Processing Room — table in the Care Center Processing area (Basement).
• Reception Room — desk in the Care Center Courtyard wing Reception.
• Storage Bay — table in the Water Treatment Plant Storage Bay.
• Lab Entrance — cabinet in the ARK Lab Entrance safe room.
• Operations Room — desk in the middle of the ARK Operations Room.
