Resident Evil Requiem: Gunpowder Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Gunpowder is Leon Kennedy's exclusive crafting resource in Resident Evil Requiem — the raw material behind every round he fires, every shell he loads, and every grenade he throws.

There are 16 confirmed Gunpowder locations across East Raccoon City, the ARK, Raccoon City Center, and the Care Center (Insanity only), all marked with exact room names on the Resident Evil Requiem interactive maps.

Grace Ashcroft has no use for Gunpowder — it's a Leon-only resource from the moment he arrives in East Raccoon City.

What is Gunpowder Used For in Resident Evil Requiem?

Gunpowder combines with Scrap to produce all of Leon's ammunition and explosives. Recipes auto-unlock as Leon acquires new weapons and materials — no lab puzzles, no specimen analysis.

Picking up the first unit of Large Gunpowder also automatically unlocks the Hand Grenade and Stacked Hand Grenade recipes.

Collecting all recipe types and crafting every possible item across a single playthrough unlocks the Master Craftsman trophy on PlayStation and the equivalent achievement on Xbox and PC.

The cleanest window to complete this is after picking up the GAL Submachine Gun in East Raccoon City, which unlocks the final remaining recipe type.

Small Gunpowder vs Large Gunpowder: What Each Crafts

Gunpowder comes in two distinct types with completely different outputs:

• Gunpowder (Small) feeds fast-fire weapons — combine 1x Scrap + 1x Gunpowder (Small) for 10x Handgun Ammo, or 2x Scrap + 1x Gunpowder (Small) for 40x Machine Gun Ammo.

• Gunpowder (Large) is for high-damage and explosive output — combine 1x Scrap + 1x Gunpowder (Large) for 3x Shotgun Shells, 2x Scrap + 1x Gunpowder (Large) for 5x Rifle Ammo, or 1x Scrap + 2x Gunpowder (Large) for 1x Hand Grenade.

Prioritise Shotgun Shells and Rifle Ammo when you have Large Gunpowder — grenades are emergency tools, not standard output.

The Most Important Gunpowder Rule: Craft Immediately

The moment you see Gunpowder, combine it. Leon's crafting costs are low enough that you will almost never run out of materials if you keep converting them on the spot.

Holding raw Gunpowder in your inventory is a waste of a slot — it takes up the same space as finished ammunition. Leon also has no shared storage box.

His supply boxes double as a pawn shop — sell weapons to free up space, and the game tracks sold inventory, so you can repurchase them later when you have room.

Insanity Mode: Gunpowder Replaces Other Items in the Care Center

Insanity doesn't reduce Gunpowder availability — it shifts where it spawns.

Three Care Center entries in the checklist are Insanity-only:

• One on the ground shelf in the Care Center
• One on a desk in the Attic (replacing the Green Herb at that location)
• One on a crate on the upper Attic level (replacing the Shotgun Shells).

These three additional sources make the Care Center a better resource zone for Leon on Insanity than on Standard.

All 16 Gunpowder Locations

East Raccoon City is the densest region with 7 locations — a window ledge on the third floor of the NF Building, a locker in Logistics Warehouse 1F (the first pickup that unlocks Handgun Ammo crafting), a barrel on the lower level, a desk on the upper level, a car trunk on the main street, a crate after climbing a ladder near the Underground Parking Garage, and a possible zombie drop in Ridgewood Station Subway.

The ARK has 3 locations — a corridor shelf, a wall shelf, and a crate in the Generator Room.

Raccoon City Center has 2 locations — a tunnel bench and an air conditioning unit.

The Care Center has 3 Insanity-only entries as described above.
