Death Stranding 2: On the Beach: Tracklayer Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Tracklayers are the structures responsible for restoring the Monorail network — Australia's fastest method for transporting bulk materials between connected Facilities.

There are 33 Tracklayers spread across three distinct monorail lines, all located in Australia; Mexico has none.

Unlike most structures in the game, Tracklayers don't appear on the map until physically discovered — exploring thoroughly is the only way to locate them. All 33 are marked on MapMaster's Death Stranding 2 interactive map for Australia.

Unlocking the Monorail: Order No. 13

The Monorail system first unlocks at Main Order No. 13: Restore the Monorail and Deliver Special Alloys to F1, which requires restoring the Mine North of F1 before the first Tracklayer can be activated.

From that point, expanding the network becomes an optional side objective — the game never explicitly tells players this is possible, but every additional Tracklayer fed with materials extends the usable rail line further.

Three Monorail Lines

Tracklayers are grouped into three named lines, identifiable by their location codes: the Northwest Line (NW01-NW03 codes), the East Coast Line (EC01-EC03 codes), and the Trans-Crater Line (TC01-TC02 codes).

Each line connects specific Knots and Distribution Centers, and includes 1-2 Mines along its route — these must also be restored, or the line doesn't count as fully complete for trophy purposes.

Materials and the Multiplayer System

Restoring a Tracklayer segment requires depositing Chiral Crystals, Resins, and Special Alloys directly at its terminal — hold the interaction button once enough materials are gathered.

As with Auto-Pavers, other players online can contribute materials to the same Tracklayer in your world, often partially or fully completing a segment before you arrive.

Using a vehicle to haul large quantities of crafting materials significantly reduces the number of trips needed compared to carrying them on foot.

The Rail Restorer Trophy

Earning Rail Restorer only requires fully restoring one of the three monorail lines — not all 33 Tracklayers.

The Northwest Line is widely considered the easiest, since roughly half of it is automatically built during Main Order progression, leaving only the remaining segments and connected Mines for manual completion during post-story cleanup.

This trophy stacks naturally with Dig, Dig, Dig!, since restoring a full line requires restoring its associated Mines along the way.

Why Bother With the Other Two Lines

Beyond the trophy requirement, fully restoring all three monorail lines dramatically speeds up bulk material transport for late-game builds and connection-level grinding — loading a Pickup Off-Roader directly onto a monorail car moves thousands of units of cargo across the continent in seconds.

While only one line is required for completion, building out the full network pays off significantly for players planning to max every Facility connection level.
