Death Stranding 2: On the Beach: Mine Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, repairing Mines unlocks a massive, immediate source of crafting materials — a faster alternative to waiting for slow Facility replenishment.

There are 9 Mines in total, all located in Australia; Mexico has none. Mines first become available after Main Order No. 13: Restore the Monorail and Deliver Special Alloys to F1, with the first restoration — Smoke Hill Mine — handled through a follow-up Sub Order.

All 9 are included on our interactive Australia map for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

Two-Stage Cost: Restoration, Then Extraction

Restoring a defunct Mine requires depositing Special Alloys — and additionally Resin for the larger, monorail-integrated mines.

Once restored, the Mine switches to its ongoing function: depositing Chiral Crystals triggers an immediate, large-quantity extraction of that Mine's specific material.

Each Mine produces only one material type — Ceramics, Special Alloys, Resins, Chemicals, or Metals — depending on its location.

Small Mines vs Large Mines

Small Mines are standalone, off-grid locations requiring only Special Alloys to restore. Large Mines are integrated directly into the Monorail network and require both Special Alloys and Resin. Once restored, a Pickup Off-Roader can be parked directly on a connected monorail car to move thousands of units of material across the map in seconds — the most efficient bulk transport method in the game.

Upgrading Mines

After initial restoration, each Mine can be upgraded twice, requiring additional deposits of the same materials used for the original restoration.

Each upgrade increases both the material yield per Chiral Crystal deposit and the Mine's resistance to Timefall and gate quake damage. Upgrading isn't required for either trophy tied to Mines, but it significantly improves long-term material farming efficiency.

Two Trophies, Different Requirements

  • Dig, Dig, Dig! — restore any 3 of the 9 Mines, regardless of size or location. The simplest of the two trophies, often unlocked naturally while progressing the main story and connecting nearby Facilities.

  • Rail Restorer — fully restore and reopen one complete monorail line, which includes restoring every Mine along that specific route. This is a separate, more involved trophy from Dig, Dig, Dig!, since monorail lines typically incorporate 1–2 Mines as waypoints.

Materials Are Shared Across Players

Like all major structures in Death Stranding 2, Mine restoration materials can be contributed by other players once the location is connected to the Chiral Network.

Checking a partially restored Mine periodically — even without contributing materials personally — often reveals that other porters have already advanced its restoration.
