Historical Markers in Days Gone Remastered are the 43 metal plaques mounted on rocks and statues across Oregon — tributes to the state's real history, from the fur trade era and Gold Rush mines to WWII balloon bombs and Native American landmarks.
Finding one isn't enough: you must physically interact with the plate (press Square when prompted) for it to register as collected.
Spotting and walking past does not count. All 43 confirmed locations have been fully documented and added to our Days Gone Remastered complete map.
The single most effective tool for finding Historical Markers is clearing Ambush Camps. Each cleared camp automatically marks all nearby Historical Markers on the map — this is the game's intended reveal system for this collectible type.
Without clearing camps, markers stay hidden unless Deacon stumbles across them through exploration. Clearing all 14 Ambush Camps reveals the majority of markers across Oregon.
When physically close to a marker, Survival Vision (hold L2) will also highlight it as an interactive object — the same vision system that detects Herbology plants and other collectibles within range.
Historical Markers count toward both "The Broken Roadshow" (Silver, 75% of all 240 collectibles — need 180+) and "Wannabe Fortune Hunter" (Bronze, 50%).
With 43 total markers available, collecting all of them accounts for a substantial portion of the 180 needed for the Silver.
Neither trophy is specifically about Historical Markers — both are broad thresholds across all collectible types.
Each marker references an actual Oregon landmark or historical event. The full collection covers the state's geological formation at Crater Lake ("The Volcanic Lake"), the Indigenous Modoc warrior history at Belknap Crater ("The Modoc Warrior"), Gold Rush mining at Lucky Lad Mines ("The Gold Rush Mines"), a WWII Japanese Balloon Bomb that landed in southern Oregon ("The Casualties of War"), the first alpaca farm at Snowbrush Ranch, and even a "Moon Trees" grown from seeds astronaut Stuart Roosa carried to space aboard Apollo 14 — now marked at Iron Mike's Camp.
Bend Studio used real places as the game's fictional backdrop and left the history intact.
Two markers in the Belknap Crater area have explicit daytime warnings:
Belknap Caves — "The Lava River Caves" — found on the right side of the exit point of the cave explored during the Belknap Caves story mission.
This is the only Historical Marker that cannot be accessed from the open world without entering the cave — it sits inside the cave system, requiring players to go through the cave to reach the exit where the marker sits.
