Atomfall: Finding Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Atomfall Findings are the 298 clues, notes, overheard conversations, and audio recordings that replace the game's traditional quest system — every Lead in the investigation journal begins with a Finding, and without the Findings system, there are no objective markers, no mission briefings, and no navigation assistance outside of Easy difficulty.

All 298 Finding locations across all five regions are properly documented for players on our Atomfall free interactive maps.

Findings Are Not Just Collectibles: They're the Entire Quest System

In most games, notes and documents are optional lore. In Atomfall, they're mandatory infrastructure.

Each Finding belongs to a Subject (a thread of investigation like "Atomic Batteries," "Dr Garrow," "The Windfall Shipment") and when discovered, adds a Lead to the journal — a text clue pointing toward an NPC, a location, or a next action. There are no waypoints on the map.

The Findings are the waypoints.

Four Distinct Finding Types

  • Note — the most common type, the most numerous, and the only type that counts toward the "We Want Information" (Bronze) trophy (read 50 Notes). Found pinned to walls, on tables and crates, on corpses, inside chests, and on typewriters. With 298 total Findings and the majority being Notes, this trophy unlocks naturally during a thorough first playthrough.

  • Conversation — triggered by specific dialogue choices during NPC interactions. The most missable Finding type: if the wrong dialogue option is chosen, the Finding doesn't appear, and the Lead it would have created is never opened. Key examples: "Nat Points Me To Molly" and "Nat Tells Me About a Bunker" both require speaking to Nat Buckshaw in a friendly manner; "Convoy Survivor Headed Towards Railyard" requires a specific follow-up question during a second trade session with Molly Jowett.

  • Observation/Observed — triggered automatically by reaching specific locations or witnessing specific events. Examples: "Wyndham Village" unlocks on first entering the village; "Searching For the Interchange" unlocks when the Modified Keycard is used at the blast door; "Infected" unlocks on being hit by any Feral's spit attack.

  • Audio Log — playable recordings found in Protocol facilities, the Interchange's Medical and Robotics wings, and the Village Hall. Only five are needed for the "Radiophonic" (Bronze) trophy, but Audio Logs are among the most narratively significant Findings for understanding what happened at Windscale before the quarantine began.

Two Trophy Chains

"We Want Information" (Bronze) — read 50 Notes. Notes are so plentiful that this unlocks naturally during any thorough exploration of the first two regions (Slatten Dale + Wyndham Village) without dedicated hunting.

"Radiophonic" (Bronze) — find 5 Audio Logs. Concentrated in the Village Hall (Protocol Documents Chest), Protocol camps in Skethermoor, and the Medical and Robotics wings of The Interchange. All five are accessible before the endgame.

Per-Region Distribution

  • Wyndham Village74 Findings: the most faction-dense surface region. St Katherine's Church alone has 8+ Notes and Observations. The Brewery Cellar, Village Hall, and the protocol-restricted areas carry key Conversation Findings that unlock faction-alignment Leads.

  • The Interchange74 Findings: the most lore-dense region in the game. Almost entirely Notes and Audio Logs revealing the pre-quarantine Windscale operation, the Oberon discovery, and the Research Division's last days.

  • Casterfell Woods62 Findings: Druid-faction lore, Dr Garrow's crash site, the Dam Data Store investigation, and Mother Jago's network of posted notes throughout the woods.

  • Skethermoor51 Findings: Protocol Workshop (10+ Notes hidden throughout its crawl-spaces), Skethermoor Prison cell blocks, and the Windfall Shipment investigation thread.

  • Slatten Dale37 Findings: the opening region. Bunkers L6, L7, and L8 account for the majority; the phone booth, Outlaw's Cave, and the Convoy Wreckage site contribute the rest.

Critical Warning: Progress Does Not Carry to New Game+

All Finding-based trophy progress (50 Notes for "We Want Information," 5 Audio Logs for "Radiophonic") must be completed within a single playthrough.

Starting New Game+ resets collectible progress. Ensure both trophies are unlocked before the ending sequence.
