Wuchang: Fallen Feathers: Bamboozling Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Bamboozlings are the elusive critters of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers — 20 small, non-hostile creatures hidden across the world of Shu that flee the moment they detect your presence.

Tracking down and killing all 20 in a single run unlocks the Bamboozling Return trophy and achievement.

Every Bamboozling is marked at exact coordinates on the unique interactive maps for all Wuchang: Fallen Feathers areas — 50 hand-drawn originals that exist nowhere else.

What Bamboozlings Look Like in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Bamboozlings hide underground until a player enters their proximity, at which point they burst from the soil and sprint away.

Before they emerge, a green sprout on the floor is the only visual tell — players who don't know to look for it walk straight past the spawn point. Once above ground, they're small, yellow, and fruit-like.

The one Bamboozling in Worship's Rise is an exception — it actively leads Wuchang toward a hidden enemy ambush. Stay alert when following it rather than chasing it down immediately.

How to Kill Bamboozlings Before They Escape

Three methods work consistently:

  • Sprint directly at the Bamboozling and immediately use a fast light attack — a one-handed sword jab is ideal. Do not approach slowly, or it will burrow before you reach striking range.

  • Fire a spell from distance before the creature detects you. High-damage spells kill it before it even begins to run.

  • Wait for it to respawn — if a Bamboozling escapes underground, it is not permanently lost. Rest at the nearest Shrine, and it returns to its spawn point. The only exception is the Rebel Camp Bamboozling, which can be killed by the nearby mines before Wuchang reaches it — this counts toward the trophy regardless.

Bamboo Shoots and the Panda NPC

Every Bamboozling drops one Bamboo Shoot when killed. The Panda NPC is a travelling merchant who accepts Bamboo Shoots in exchange for unique gear, upgrade materials, and the Panda Hood headpiece (5 Bamboo Shoots).

The Panda first appears in the cave in Narrow Stretch at Shu Sanctum and relocates to new areas as the campaign progresses, carrying fresh stock at each location.

A second source of Bamboo Shoots exists that doesn't require killing a Bamboozling: the Storyteller NPC in the same Shu Sanctum cave.

Exhaust all of his dialogue options before leaving, and he rewards one free Bamboo Shoot — worth doing on the first visit before the Panda is approached.

Bamboozling Return Trophy: One Playthrough, One Chance — and a Known Glitch

All 20 Bamboozlings must be defeated in a single playthrough to unlock Bamboozling Return. Progress does not reliably carry over between runs. Missing one in a story-locked area — such as Snowfall Palace — requires completing NG+ to access it again.

The trophy is also known to glitch. Several players report defeating all 20 Bamboozlings without the trophy unlocking.

The fix is consistent: begin a New Game Plus run and defeat a handful of Bamboozlings — the trophy typically pops between the 5th and 7th kill in NG+, retroactively registering the full count from the previous playthrough.

All 20 Bamboozling Locations in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

The 20 Bamboozlings span all four regions, with the highest concentration in Worship's Rise. The first two are found at Lightzen Temple immediately after defeating the Man-Eating Dhutanga boss — the likeliest first encounter for most players.

All 20 positions with approach notes and nearest Shrine respawn points are in the interactive guide below.
