Mafia: The Old Country: Newspaper Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide
The 50 Newspapers in Mafia: The Old Country are issues of the fictional Sicilian Herald — a period publication with full-colour illustrated covers reporting on real events from early 1900s Europe and Sicily.
Ranging from the Russo-Japanese War and the San Francisco earthquake to local Sicilian horse races and sulfur mine strikes, each issue adds historical texture to Enzo Favara's story.
Collecting all 50 unlocks The Collector trophy alongside Mystery Foxes, Photographs, and Saint's Cards. Every Newspaper is included on our Sicily map, part of MapMaster's Mafia: The Old Country game hub.
Two Trophies Tied to Newspapers
- Read All About It — triggered the moment Enzo picks up his very first Newspaper
- The Collector — requires all 50 Newspapers, all 50 Mystery Foxes, all 23 Photographs, and all 20 Saints' Cards. Journal Notes are not required for this trophy despite being a separate collectible type in the game.

The 50 issues are divided into two categories across the 14 story chapters:
10 Story-Exclusive Newspapers
Found inside chapter interiors or along specific mission paths that close after the chapter ends. Miss one during its chapter, and it must be recovered via Chapter Replay from the main menu.
Collectibles are saved instantly on pickup — quitting mid-chapter replay after collecting an issue counts permanently without needing to finish the mission.
40 Open-World Newspapers
Spread across San Celeste's plazas, farms, coastal villages, and country roads. Best collected in Explore Mode after Chapter 3, in a single systematic sweep of the Sicily map.
Newspapers on the Minimap
Unlike Mystery Foxes, Newspapers appear on the minimap as white icons when Enzo gets close to one — making them easier to locate through active searching than by relying purely on visual scanning.
Once collected, the white icon gains a checkmark. Track remaining gaps via the Collection Tab in the pause menu, which shows which specific issues haven't been found yet.
The Two Most Easily Missed Story Newspapers
Opera Season (Chapter 1: Famiglia) — After cleaning the stables and before returning to Cesare, turn right immediately on exiting the stables and climb the stairs next to the cars. The Newspaper is on a table at the top. The natural objective flow sends players back to Cesare first, missing this diversion entirely.
Floods in Europe (Chapter 2: Palio) — Before heading into the white race tent with the yellow objective marker in San Celeste, collect this Newspaper from the table in front of the tent. Entering the tent advances the chapter and removes access to this area — it must be grabbed first. If missed, use Chapter Replay for Chapter 2.
Chapter 3 is the Richest Story Chapter
Chapter 3: Pizzu contains more story-gated Newspaper locations than any other single chapter — six Newspapers are accessible during its mission path (Joy on Saints' Day, Chinese Relations, Sicily Under Water, Italian Explorer, Amazing Inventions, and Diver Sets Record), spread across the citrus farm, quarry, and Porto Almaro impound areas.
Sweeping Chapter 3 thoroughly before completing its objectives pays the highest density return of all 14 chapters.
