Mafia: The Old Country: Photograph Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

The 23 Photographs in Mafia: The Old Country are the most distinctive collectible in the game — not picked up from a surface like a Newspaper or a Saint's Card, but captured by framing real locations of Sicily through the lens of an antique camera.

Collecting all 23 contributes to The Collector trophy alongside Mystery Foxes, Newspapers, and Saints' Cards. Every photography vantage point is marked on our interactive map, which you can access via Mafia: The Old Country gamer hub.

How Photography Works in Mafia: The Old Country

The antique camera is given to Enzo by Isabella during Chapter 4: Il Barone at the Valle Dorata ruins — a narrative moment that doubles as the game's photography tutorial.

From that point, Enzo can take photographs at specific vantage points throughout Sicily. The process at each location:

  1. Find the white Photograph Icon visible at a specific vantage point
  2. Interact with the icon to enter camera mode
  3. Align the frame until the UI indicators confirm a correct composition
  4. Take the photo to add it to the Collection Menu

There is no free-form photo mode — photography only works at the 23 designated icon locations. Each captured photograph unlocks a short piece of Developer's Commentary about the historical or fictional significance of that location, viewable in the gallery.

3 Story Photographs vs 20 Free Roam Photographs

3 story-exclusive Photographs — all three are triggered automatically during mission objectives in Chapters 4 and 7. None can be truly missed mid-chapter, though Chapter Replay is available if needed:

  • The Temple Codex — automatically obtained in Chapter 4 when Isabella hands Enzo the camera at the temple ruins. This is the photography tutorial; it cannot be skipped.
  • Marquis Siragusa — taken through the upper-floor bordello window in Chapter 7: Spirito Sportivo as a mission objective. The photo of the Marquis is required to progress.
  • The Winning Team — automatically taken at the end of Chapter 7 when Isabella photographs Enzo and Cesare together.

20 Free Roam Photographs — all available after unlocking Explore Mode during Chapter 3. These span the full Sicily map from the Valle Dorata inland to the Porto Almaro coastline, covering ancient temples, Norman ruins, lighthouses, salt farms, railway bridges, and the town of San Celeste itself.

Vantage Points Don't Appear on the Map Until You're Close

Unlike Newspapers and other collectibles that register as white map icons when nearby, Free Roam photography vantage points do not appear on the Sicily map in advance.

The white Photograph Icon only becomes visible in the world when Enzo physically approaches the vantage point.

This makes Photographs the most difficult collectible category to locate by map-scanning alone — every Free Roam vantage point must be approached from the correct direction to trigger the icon.

Time-of-Day Sensitivity

Some Free Roam vantage points only display their Photograph Icon at specific times of day — the icon is invisible at other hours.

If you reach a location marked on the interactive map and see no icon, change the time of day at Enzo's apartment in San Celeste (accessible during Explore Mode). Set it to Sunset or Noon and return to the vantage point to make the icon appear.

The Winning Team Display Bug

"The Winning Team" — the end-of-Chapter-7 automatic photograph — has a known display quirk where it occasionally appears and disappears in the Collections Menu across chapter replays. This is a visual tracking issue only and does not affect whether the photograph has been collected.

If your count shows 22/23 and this photo was taken, verify via the Collection Menu rather than the chapter replay screen.
