Skill Bricks in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight aren't hidden collectibles — they're automatic rewards earned by completing story missions and specific open-world milestones, each one depositing a single point into the Skill Tree to be spent on permanent upgrades.

All 30 Skill Bricks unlock without hunting, hidden puzzles, or obstacle courses; the only requirement is playing through the story and completing a handful of activities.

Spending all points on all available upgrades earns the "Holy Skill Upgrades, Batman!" achievement.

Skill Brick vs Gadget Bench: Two Separate Systems

Skill Bricks fund the Skill Tree — a set of passive abilities affecting combat multipliers, stud pickup radius, combo duration, stealth, and traversal.

Gadget Bench upgrades use WayneTech Chips to improve specific character gadgets. Both systems run in parallel, but Skill Bricks are entirely finite (30 total), while Gadget Bench upgrades can be purchased progressively throughout the campaign.

Buying one upgrade from each Skill Tree category — Combat, Movement, Economy, and Stealth — unlocks the "Lighter, faster, more agile" achievement.

The Most Valuable Skill Tree Purchases

Prioritise the stud economy skills first. The Hyper Combo upgrades (Tier 1 and Tier 2) raise the maximum combo multiplier from base to x4, which makes every subsequent activity dramatically more profitable.

Stud Magnet (Tier 1 and Tier 2) vacuums in studs from further away, keeping high-value Blue and Purple Studs from despawning before they're collected.

After those four, Speedy Stud Combo and Stud Combo Duration prevent the multiplier from decaying during traversal — especially useful during open-world sweeps between smashable objects.
