Crimson Desert mounts are horses and creature mounts found in the wild, unlocked through story quests, or obtained by defeating legendary enemies.
Our team has marked every confirmed mount location across Pywel on the interactive maps you can access via the Crimson Desert interactive guide hub.
Herspia is Kliff's first horse, unlocked automatically during the New Journey quest in Hernand. She's a serviceable early-game mount with average speed and stamina — enough to cover Hernand and Pailune before you start hunting legendary horses.
Once you tame a legendary horse, Herspia becomes your backup mount.
Taming horses requires getting close to them and interacting to climb on. Alternatively, you can boost yourself into the air and glide down on top of them.
Once mounted, hold the left stick in the direction the horse's tail is pointing to resist its bucking until the bar at the bottom of the screen fills fully.
Stamina is the critical gate. The stamina requirement is not optional — all three legendary horses will fight back during the taming minigame, and if your stamina runs out, you get thrown.
Low stamina means less control and a much harder time keeping pace with the horse's movements. Build your Stamina to at least 4–6 points before attempting any legendary horse.
On the controller, increase Camera Speed in settings to make tracking the horse's movements easier. On PC, use a mouse — the faster camera tracking makes a meaningful difference.
Royler, Rokade, and Camora each specialise in a different area — speed, survivability, and combat — so the right pick depends entirely on how you play.
Royler has Level 4 base movement speed while the other two cap at Level 3, and the highest stamina of any horse in the game. He can also learn Consecutive Instant Acceleration at Level 5, a skill that lets you chain drift boosts together for bursts of speed no other horse can match.
Found by a frozen lake near the Snowgrass Hearth campsite in south Pailune.
Warning: the Silverwolf Mountains apply a frost debuff that drains your health throughout the taming attempt — equip cold resistance gear or eat warming food before you start.
Rokade has nearly twice the health pool of Royler, which may make him the tankiest mount in the entire game. If you take a lot of hits while mounted or just want a horse that can absorb punishment in combat encounters, Rokade is the practical choice.
Found grazing near the small lake west of the Spire of Insight in southern Hernand. Requires at least 6 Stamina to tame.
The temperate Hernand climate has no environmental debuffs — the easiest taming attempt of the three.
The war horse built for mounted combat, located in the Redtree Forest in the Tashkalp area.
The hardest to navigate to but accessible early — no quest or fight required, just exploration.
Tame Royler first — as soon as you have 4–6 points of stamina. He is close to the starting area and changes everything for exploration, carrying you through roughly 90% of the game.
Rokade second, when you start having more frequent horseback battles. Camora last, when you naturally explore the eastern side of the map.
The Legendary Bear Mount is found near the Abyss Nexus in the White Wastes Sanctuary area of Pailune. Defeat the White Bear in combat, then bring the loot drop to any Witch vendor to complete the unlock.
All confirmed mount locations are pinned on the Hernand map, Pailune interactive map, and Demeniss region guide, with taming notes in the checklist below.
