There are 5 Touge Racing Events in Forza Horizon 6 — and the mode itself is brand new to the Forza Horizon franchise. The series has never had proper touge until now.
Japan was the only setting that could make it authentic, and Playground Games leaned in fully: five dedicated mountain pass routes, each with its own rival, its own class restriction, and the narrow-road, close-quarters format that fans of the genre have wanted for years.
Touge (pronounced "toh-gay") is a Japanese word for mountain pass.
The culture around them — tight hairpins, downhill sprints, 1v1 duels — was made famous by Initial D, where drivers race on narrow mountain passes where a single mistake costs everything.
Players who know drifting culture or Initial D will recognise Mt. Haruna immediately — the real mountain that inspired the series' legendary passes is in FH6's Takashiro region.
Touge events don't appear on your map by default. You have to physically drive close to a start point before the icon shows up.
Look for a blue circle with two cars — that's the touge icon once you're in range.
All 5 have no unlock requirement and are accessible from the start of the game, but you won't see them until you explore near their starting gates.
Touge battles are about launch, track position, braking, and defence — launch first, hold the line, exit clean.
Lightweight RWD cars beat high-power AWD builds here — the community top picks for the B 600 routes (Mt. Haruna, Hakone Nanamagari) are the Toyota AE86 and Mazda RX-7.
The full class range across all five routes runs from B 600 up to S2 900 (Arashiyama Takao, the fastest route in Minamino).
In single-player, each route has a dedicated rival waiting at the start.
Online, there's a dedicated Touge Showdown mode — two-player head-to-head championships played across three races, feeding into Horizon Play progression.
Completing Touge Battles contributes to Discover Japan progression alongside Street Racing Events — both sit outside the Wristband system and can be done at any point in the campaign.
All 5 starting locations are pinned on our Forza Horizon 6 map, with class restrictions, distances, and conditions in the checklist below. For the drift side of Japan's mountain culture, see Drift Zones.
