Elden Ring: Scarab Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

As a vital part of staying alive and getting stronger, the Elden Ring Teardrop Scarab is a must-have target for any player.

These glowing bugs—found across Limgrave or hidden in the mists of the Nightreign expansion—act as the main way to refill your flasks and find rare Ashes of War while you are exploring.

Flask Refill Scarabs

These beetles are the basic tools for staying in the fight longer without resting:

  • Crimson Scarabs: These are red and refill your Health Flask. You usually find them near groups of enemies or right before a boss fight.
  • Cerulean Scarabs: These are blue and refill your Mana (FP) Flask. They are the main source for magic users to keep casting spells during long trips.

Item and Skill Scarabs

These rarer beetles don't refill flasks but carry important rewards for your character:

  • Ash of War Scarabs (White/Gold): These drop weapon skills. Some are easy to see, but others will run away and vanish if you aren't fast.
  • Invisible Scarabs: You can only see their glowing footprints moving on the ground. You have to hit them while they are moving. These drop top-tier Ashes of War like Hoarfrost Stomp.
  • Upgrade Stone Scarabs: Found in places like Liurnia, these drop Somber Smithing Stones and are a top choice for leveling up your weapons early.

2026 Nightreign: Limveld Spectral Scarabs

The 2026 Nightreign update added Spectral Scarabs in the Limveld area, which change based on "Shifting Earth" events.

  • Limveld Locations: In the Forsaken Hollows, these scarabs change their paths often. They are the main path to getting the materials needed for the Scholar class.
  • Spectral Hawk Strategy: Use the Spectral Hawk Tree to get a view from above. In 2026, flying players can easily see the tracks of invisible scarabs through the fog, which is a huge help for finishing their collection.
  • Castle Loot: Inside the randomized castle, scarabs can drop Memory Essences, making them the best way to keep your spells ready during co-op play.

Right now, the best way to catch invisible scarabs is to use Margit’s Shackle or Mohg’s Shackle.

The big energy wave from these items hits the scarab even if you are far away. This is the smartest way to catch fast targets in the Mountaintops of the Giants.

In the Nightreign Castle, listen for a "clinking" sound; that means a scarab is hidden behind a fake wall.

To help you find every bug and fill your bag, we have marked every path on our Elden Ring interactive game map.
