Doom: The Dark Ages: Boss Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Boss encounters in Doom: The Dark Ages are designed around the Slayer's new shield-based combat identity — every major fight rewards parrying, stun management, and well-timed Wraithstone-powered finishers over raw firepower.

The guide below tracks all 18 boss-level enemies across the campaign, from the opening Titan on the shores of Village of Khalim to the climactic double finale of Final Battle.

Three Champion Trophies — All Story-Unmissable

Three Champion variants appear as set-piece boss encounters and each awards a dedicated trophy on first defeat. After each Champion is beaten, that demon type begins appearing as standard enemies in later chapters:

  • Vagary Champion (Chapter 4: Sentinel Barracks) → "Vagary Down!" trophy. Gold-armored spider demon with a shoulder-mounted turret and energy cannon. Parry its green projectiles to build the stun meter, then shoot its exposed back. Reappears as a second encounter in Chapter 22: Reckoning.

  • Agaddon Champion (Chapter 8: Abyssal Forest) → "Agaddon Champion Down!" trophy. Close-quarters melee combat — get inside its reach to break down its defenses, then parry and counterattack in the opening. Reappears in Chapter 11: Hellbreaker.

  • Komodo Champion (Chapter 14: Spire of Nerathul) → "Komodo Champion Down!" trophy. The fastest boss in the game — charges on all fours, wielding a double-blade chainsaw and a Power Gauntlet. Speed-based parrying is essential; wearing it down opens a glory kill finisher.

The Campaign's Named Bosses

  • Titan (Chapter 1: Village of Khalim) — the only boss in the game, fought via an environmental turret mechanic. Kill the small demons on the beach to charge the turret, then fire its large bolts at the Titan to complete the chapter.

  • Shielded Titan Demon (Chapter 3: Barrier Core) — fought from inside the Atlan mech. The only boss encounter in the game played entirely as a vehicle sequence.

  • Kreed Maykr (Chapter 20: Resurrection) — two distinct phases. Phase one: dodge projectiles and fill the finisher bar with glory kills to take chunks of health. Phase two: Kreed strips his armour and spawns two additional halo rings, significantly increasing projectile speed and density. Completing Chapter 20 unlocks the "Argent Return" story trophy.

  • The Old One + Enhanced Ahzrak (Chapter 21: Final Battle) — two consecutive boss encounters with no break between them. Defeating both unlocks the "The Only Thing They Fear" trophy.

  • Ahzrak and the Witch (Chapter 22: Reckoning) — the campaign finale, fought in the circular room of Ahzrak's ship.

How Boss Combat Works

All Champions and named bosses share the same foundational mechanics:

Shield Bars (bronze health bars) appear above standard health and require specific actions to break — either killing surrounding fodder demons or landing Perfect Parries with the Shield Saw. Once the Shield Bar is depleted, the boss is briefly vulnerable.

Stun and finisher — sustained damage fills a finisher meter. Executing a glory kill on a stunned boss deals a large percentage of total health. Saving Wraithstone ultimate charges for these windows maximises damage per opening.

Phase shifts — Kreed Maykr and Komodo Champion both change attack patterns at approximately 50% health. The second phase of each requires faster reaction times and more consistent parry execution than the first.
